Weird question I just thought of

Weird question I just thought of

So, we have tenants living above the building I work in (there's 3 apartments total) and we have a new couple living in one who just moved in this month. I just heard them having a doozie of a fight before...it was really sad...things were getting thrown, and I heard some crying and cursing, and some horrible name calling--things I would hope no one would ever call me, let alone the man I married. I hope for them (and for the sanity of everyone in our office too) that this is a very rare occurence.

This had me think though--what is yours and DH's arguing style? As much as I know we all hate to do it, disagreements happen. For DH and I, we aren't big yellers or name callers--we promised we would never curse at each other either. We are more the 'say angry things and then give silent treatment' type. Then we both go off and do our own things, and one of us always brakes down and goes to the other, or if we aren't together, texts the other one something funny and it's over. I think we do an ok job of handling disagreements. He only got so mad once years ago that he didn't talk to me for an entire night, and I was so upset he never did it again. It was in the first 'living together' rough days...the weeks before the wedding were rough too...we haven't fought since our wedding day though! Goes to show how much stress ready to be married couples are under!

What do you and DH/FH do?

We had pretty bad fights in the past, but we changed our fighting way now we fight and just ignore each other and then randonly we find ourselves talking again.

Crashing...

I have neighbors who live above me who fight almost everyday. They yell, curse each other out, call each other names and the sad part is they have 2 small children. What kind of example are u setting for those kids.. smh.

I'm a screamer, and he's a eye-roller. And then we look at each other and start laughing majority of the time. I have only seen him lose his temper three times in 8 years, and none of them were directed at me.

It is true, though- we haven't fought since the wedding (but we didn't really fight right before the wedding either). Its been a few months since any arguments, with the exception of booking our holiday flights.

I think we've had maybe 5 fights where we've screamed at eachother and considering we've been together 5 years, that's pretty good

We will bicker and then ignore each other and then either talk it over or just forget about it and go back to normal

weird but since i was young i could never find myself cursing..

my favorite fighting word is freaking.. i say that alot. when we might i may yell but never curse. and this is DH favorite line to me

DH: Are you going to break up with me?
Me: NO
DH: um ok, so why you yelling and fighting.

he just ignores me.

This is us, too! Honestly, in 8 years, I can't say we've really had a FIGHT, in the yelling and screaming sense. It's more one has hurt the other and we're pretty quick to apologize and ask forgiveness of the other, or talk it out even if it goes through the night and lasts 4 hours. It just works for us.

I don't think I would put up with things getting thrown, cursing, and horrible name calling. We may annoy each other sometimes, but there's just certain things that can't be undone or unsaid and we don't cross that line.

DH and I rarely fight...I consider it bickering or disagreeing. Ironically today, we had a little bicker-fest. We don't name call, or scream and yell. Sometimes I get passionate and raise my voice but DH is always level-tempered and usually responds with 'I dont know what you want me to say...' and I get frustrated and walk away, and then its over lol.

DH and I have different ideas about what is considered yelling. I feel it's the tone of voice and when I feel like he is talking Down to me. I can get upset pretty quickly and will call him pretty disgusting names. Then he'll walk away and I'll cry and say I'm sorry. It's very typical, he uses his tone and his 'disgust' And I go straight to the words. It's a bad cycle, but hard to break! I will say though we don't fight too much anymore and when we do it's short and we get over it super quick.

For me, it's more frustration and then diarrhea of the mouth!

DH is very short tempered so he gets loud quick, but I just ignore him for the most part and he eventually figures out he's talking to himself and stops. When he calms down we have a normal conversation

I never understood people who break/throw things to get their point across....don't they know they're going to have to replace those things?

Re: Weird question I just thought of

In the 3 1/2 years we have been together we have only had maybe 5 or less HUGE fights. I usually give the silent treatment until he figures out that I am doing so then we talk it out....maybe not right away because one wants to talk before the other usually. We don't call names or yell at the top of our lungs...but the tone of voice can for sure change. He is very easy going so for him to get super mad it has to be really something.
