who has never ever flown on a plane before? I am going to be 28 this summer, and have never flown.
The thought terrifies me, i have alot of dreams or i should say nightmares about plane crashes, even have had a dream that FH was on a plane that crashed, it was awful.
Is there anyone else my age who has never flown? I feel so old, like if it hasnt happened yet, it will never happen.

Re: Weird Question...am i the only one
wow! i fly all the time (just flew to NY thurs night) but i still get nervous every time
it just depends on your circumstances... i visited colleges all over the country and have gone to college and law school 1000 miles away so i had to. plus we've vacationed places where you cant really drive.
my first flight was when i was 2, my dad had a business trip. my first 'real' flight was 10th grade, going on a school trip to paris/london flying from JFK... and it was right after the first final destination movie came out. scared the crapola out of me.
they say flying is safer than driving. i just try not to worry too much and hope for the best

I've never flown! Wish I could. A Dr. told me I shouldn't because it could deafen me; I've had a lot of ear issues since childhood. I know people say it's different now, but that warning still exists in my brain, and I don't want to take chances. Mary MOB

Re: Weird Question...am i the only one
I flew when I was about 4, but I don't remember it at all and now I am beyond scared of flying. However, FH and I just booked a trip to Puerto Rico for next month, so I don't have much time to get over the fear. I wanted to see if I'd be ok flying though, to see if it will completely ruin my HM..if its really bad, I'm opting for a cruise!

Re: Weird Question...am i the only one
I have flown before but the last time was a couple years ago and I had to fly back out to come home during a hurricane, it was the last flight out before they shut down the airport, it was NOT fun!!! It kinda turned me off of flying, however FH wants to go to either Italy or Romania for HM so yeah I better get over it and fly again.
Plus you have to remember something... We only hear about the flights that do crash, think of the 1,000's everyday that are safe and no problems.
My advice .... seriously... take a Valium if you smoke take gum.
Oh yeah... FH's father has NEVER been on a plane, refuses to get on one.

FH has only flown a few times in his life and he is terrified of it. We've only flown once together and he drank a little alcohol on the plane, just enough to relax him! I fly all the time, so i was able to keep him calm too.

Re: Weird Question...am i the only one
It is perfectly normal to be scared of flying. I mean you're thousands of miles above the ground! I travel a lot for work and there are always nervous people on the plane. Plane crashes are very rare. Statistically more people die in car crashes than plane crashes. It makes sense though because there are more people driving than flying at any given time. Some advice for when you fly: fly at night and take a dramamine so you sleep. Turbulence will happen, but as some of the JetBlue pilots say, it's 'potholes'. I think turbulence is probably the scariest part, but you will be okay. It's just wind. I've been on cross-country flights where we haven't hit any turbulence. Most pilots will let you know ahead of time if you'll hit turbulence. If they don't, just remember that's what it is - wind. It will eventually stop.
