Would it be weird if we registered for photography equipment? Its something FH and I both really enjoy. We have matching DSLRs (yes we are attached at the hip and needed two of the exact same camera).
I will appreciate any gifts that my guests decided to give, but I will get more use out of a telephoto lens than I will out of a gravy boat.
I'm afraid to ask because some of this stuff can get expensive and I don't want to offend anyone. I wouldn't register for a $1000 lens but in comparison to point-and-shoot cameras the accessories can seem costly. I could find things like straps or tripods for under $100.
Also, my mother says that the gifts won't last like china will. Yes technology becomes obsolete, but won't fancy china just collect dust?
TIA if you made it all the way through!

I think you should register for whatever you want! It is your day. I decided to register for expensive/nicer everyday dishes since I didn't love the idea of getting fine china that would collect dust. If the things you love are not standard, I am sure the people who love you already know this and would rather get you something you want rather than something they think you should have!

The people who love me may know what my hobbies are, but my mom is sure to invite weird people from her old job or the temple that I have never met before.

lol
Just be careful! I got a littermaid years and years ago and sometimes pieces got stuck and then went whizzing across the room. I couldn't use it. I hope things have gotten better since then!

I think its fine as long as it isn't overkill - if ppl have the option of also getting you more traditional items (like, maybe aunt gretta won't want to spend her money on a tripod but would loveeee to buy your first ____) then I think it is a greatttt idea

You can always register for some 'standard' items for people who may not feel comfortable giving a more tech-oriented gift?
