Weird...UPDATED at bottom

Some LIPA guy just rang my bell, said he was in my backyard and he stepped in dog sh!t...

Of course, my hair is dripping wet, I have zit cream on the 12 pimples that decided to visit my face today, and I am carrying a pile of clean bras...

I was like, hmm, no one here called LIPA, and aren't we supposed to be notified if LIPA needs to be on our property? So this guy answers, 'Uh, yeah, I, uh, I'm working for this lady around the corner, and uh, her line runs into your yard. I didn't look like anyone was home here so I just went through your gate, it, uh, wasn't locked, ya know. And ya know, you oughta be careful, there's dog crap back there! I stepped in it.'

I was like, 'Yes, I know there's dog crap back there. I HAVE A DOG AND YOU WALKED THROUGH HIS POOPIE PEN! Please notify me if you need my property again.'

He took off so fast, there was just something so fishy about this. He was wearing street clothes, not even a jacket that said LIPA or anything, not carrying a clipboard or papers or anything- I'm glad we have strong locks and a good alarm!

This ever happen to anyone else?

I was thinking of calling LIPA and questioning if there is a service tech. in our area...

This is a little too 'Home Alone' for me.


ETA: I'm so glad my little Mo (my boston terrier) has such a voice on him - his bark is scary if you don't see his little body!

OK, i JUST got off the phone w/ LIPA. They had me on hold for over 20 minutes!

They confirmed that they DO have a tech in the area, but he should not be without his LIPA attire. She said he may have had his LIPA coat on, but took it off because it was warm. She also told me that they are not allowed on the property without notifying someone, either by knocking on the door or calling either the work/home #. She told me that I could file a complaint, so I did.

I tried calling the cops to report it too, but they told me that all cars in the area are responding to an accident and it would be at least an hour before they could get here to check out the neighborhood. YAY Suffolk PD.

I'm at my parents house and they live in a VERY nice area, so I guess I was overly suspicious. Like I said, this was a little 'Home Alone-ish'!

I hope a robber or rapist could come up with a better line than 'I just stepped in your dog's sh!t'...... Just out of curiosity, what did he want you to do about it?? Do you think he was just knocking on the door to see if anyone is home?

Not too long ago, there were guys working on the house next door to my aunt's and they used her outside faucet without asking. She was really pISSED!!!
