Well finally got in touch with my church and they will pencil us in but nothing is written in stone until we speak to the dean. They tell me WE have to sit down with the dean and talk to him. My FH is not in the state and won't be around until the holidays (thanksgiving and Christmas - but since that is such a busy time they don't think he will be able to meet with us until after the holidays when he will be back at school) Then they tell me I now have to regularly attend church, and not just holidays - which don't count - which is hard for me to do during the school semester. I know for a fact that they marry a lot of people who have never regularly attended (I was an active member for years and had 1st communion, and confirmation there) In fact, my stepgrandfathers son was married at the church recently and he lives across the country and NEVER attended the church! My family is extremely active members of this church I hope this all straightens out because this is the church that I REALLY want to get married in. (SORRY FOR THE VENT)

I am surprised that this is happening to you since your family are active members of the church community. I have been an active member of my church community for 14 years now and when I went to speak to the Pastor about my date, he just wrote it in. I had no problems. Who is the dean? Do you mean deacon? Why do you have to speak to the deacon what about a priest that you might know or your family knows very well that is in that church.

We had to meet with the Pastor bfore they 'put us in stone' but I don't think they can tell you when and how often or where you need to go to mass.
Don't stress about it. Wait till you go and meet with him.

This is an episcopal church and unfortunately the dean has the final say - I'm sure it will all work out ok in the end but it might be a hassel. I guess I will be going to church this sunday and will try speaking to him directly. I will let you all know what he says!

It just upsets me sometimes to hear some of the rediculos rules the church comes up with.It sounds a little weird to me ,maybe its just the pastors rules i would look into it.Good luck to you it will all work out.

Im glad what we have to do for the church is just our Pre Cana class, and we signed up for that in March.
I was like u Robs luv u, the church I'm getting married in has been my church since the age of 7, i had my confirmation there, and attended mass and religious instructions. They told me I had to reregister for the church to be married there.
I get the envelopes, but since then went about twice. But they penciled us in for our date and time.
