well... it happened.....

i got my first uninvited RSVP today....
so my mom has a single friend that shes kept in touch with since high school that she wanted me to invite to the wedding.... my mom just saw her a month ago and she didn't mention she was seeing anyone- even was talking about how tough dating in your 50's is..... since she knows a couple people who are coming to the wedding and we are only inviting ' and guest' when they are in a serious relationship... i just sent the invite to her....
so i get the response card back from her today filled in with ' 2 will attend'.... UH??? excuse me?!?! i don't beleive 2 peoples names were on your invitation..... GRRR!!!!!!!! i mean maybe i should have put ' and guest on there.... but come on!! if you have someone you want to bring.... CALL FIRST AND ASK IF ITS OK!!!!!!!!! GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! can't wait for this to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! That's just terrible. Is there a way to have your mom tell her that unfortunately, you're not inviting anyone else w/a guest b/c you're paying for it and have a very strict guestlist?

I wouldn't be that upset about it yet. Wait and see how many 'no's' you get and see if it is really going to be a problem.

Also, keep in mind that women of a certain generation would never dream of going anywhere unaccompanied by a gentleman because it is seen as improper.

not sure... i just told my mom, and she thinks it was incredibly rude too... she said ' i'll have to call her and see whats going on'.... whatever that means... and the funny part is, really the main reason my mom wanted to invite her is to try and set her up with my dads brother.... LOL... so whos knows...
i mean i understand maybe she feels uncomfortable coming alone or whatever... but at least call and ask first before you just add people to my guest list! grrr!! and people wonder why we turn into bridezillas! LOL

yes i understand that, and maybe i should have put ' and guest' on there... and as far as numbers, its not gonna be a huge problem... but my point is if she wants to bring a date, at least call and ask first before sending back the response card with a number i wasn't counting on....

She may not have realized that she wasn't invited without a guest. It may be an honest mistake.
