FH finally is starting to get excited about wedding planning. I am going to call and make appointments to see some places. You do have to make appointments, right?
Anyway, I am PRAYING that we will like one of them, and they wont be booked for when we want. I am shooting for Sept/Oct 05. Whatever is available, and in our price range.

Most places will talk to you if you walk in, but you are usually better off calling - I found that when I called & made an appt they gave us more attention & took us before anyone who walked in without an appt. Good luck, the fun begins!! I am Sept 05.

You're really better off calling so you get the correct person to deal with. Sometimes if they have a wedding coming up and you can get in early enough they let you see the room quick so you can see what it looks like all done up

if you are interested in any of the scotto brothers places (fox hollow, westbury manor, and chateau briand) they don't take appts, but most other places do.

It's hard to look on the weekend because of the weddings going on but see if they will schedule in between explain you need to see what it looks like set up. Most people are accomodating and those that aren't I'd skip because they already aren't willing to work with your needs. Good Luck! Ask on the boards too when you decide where your going maybe people can give you really good contact names. Your contact person can make or break you too sometimes.

Good luck and congrats on your engagement. We made appointments at all the places we looked at. We actually looked around this time last year and there wasn't any problem. Our appoinments were early in the day and there are not a lot of weddings around this time. Ask around on the boards first to see if anyone knows about the places you're interested in. Good luck in your search.

FH and I never really made appts. You could call most places and ask, but if you walk in I'm sure they would be willing to help you too. They want your MONEY lol

most places would rather you make an appointment with them. all three places we went to, we made appt's. We wanted to make sure they took the time with us, and didn't rush. you can walk in to check out a place, but to seriously discuss pricing and availability you should make an appointment.

I did little telephone interviews first because originally I had a specific date in mind but every place I called was more than willing to give me a pp price and what dates they still had available. Then I made appointments to go in and see them.

I made an appointment everywhere we looked.
Westbury Manor Watermill (Scotto Bros places make appointments) Swan Club Three Village Inn
It was a relatively short list as we are having 100 people and that's below minimum for many places in summer.

Pretty much everywhere we looked required an appointment. As it was stated before, the weekends are hard to get appointments bc of weddings...We saw a couple of halls on Saturday's but at 9AM...FH was only able to go on the weekends. You can ask them over the phone though if they are already booked for the date if you have one in mind!

I just wanted to say good luck! This time last year my DH and I started planning our 10-29-04 wedding!!
We made some appointments and just stopped by a few places. You should call ahead at least to make sure they are open and don't have an event going on, otherwisw they won't be able to see you.

Calling ahead does help since you can ask if there's anything available on the dates you're interested in and what the price range is. Then at least you know if there's a reason to visit these places.
