maybe you could put the smaller bowl in the big bowl. Fill the big bowl up to the hight of the small bowl with sand and sea shells , fill the small bowl with water and put a floating candle in it? Does this even make sense?

i am doing a floating candle bowl with different types of candles. you can do a search for floating candles.. they have so many different types.. you can probably find seashells, butterflies, anything!!

Kohls (in NY anyway) has these huge glass sea shells. I bought them for the centerpieces and filled them with 'sand' in my colors. We used sugar and salt with food coloring (it works but you do have to mix it a lot). They were so beautiful! The shells were each about $18. We had a small wedding, but it would be expensive for a larger wedding, I dont have pictures yet, sorry.

Hmm...how what is the size difference between the two? I had been to a wedding once where they placed the smaller bown inside the larger one, and mixed a mixture of glue and water with the sand to make the sand hard, it was placed in the outside bowl between the larger and smaller.
Then they alternated what went inside by having water with floating starfish, and then another table, in the center were little baggies with starfish shaped chocolates...it was really cute

fill them up with sand and put shells on the sand tossed about and then a candle in the center. A chunky candle in the bigger ones and a tea-light candle in the smaller ones.
