Went COMPLETELY Bridezilla.. over something not wedding related
Well its not wedding related.. but I must admit .. i think i probably sounded like some angry 'zilla. My endocrinologist left the office I have been seeing him at and started his own practice. I called last week to have my records sent to the new MD... no problem right? Went to the new appt on Thursday.. no chart.. .. so I called today.. and they just havent gotten around to it yet.. but if I want to come and pick it up myself its 0.75 cents a SHEET of paper?!?!?!?! .. and the manager was such a Country Singer... and I let her know.. I have never been so completely out of control... Does anyone know if they are even legally allowed to charge that much for your chart? TIA

I think I charged around that price yrs ago when i worked at a chiropractic office... you should see what the doc charged people for xrays and he got them for free!!!! you would think i woulda benefitted from it a bit considering i was the one who had to run my asss over to the place and have copies made, not him...

its insanity.. they charge it to cover the girl who is making the copies.. but if you just faxed it to my MD's office for free.. and the chart was already apart - how hard is it to just put it through the top feeder of the copy machine? I told her.. she doesn't want me to bring the drama next week to her office.. I said I would stand their all day and tell their patients how terrible the office is..

I never heard of being charged for your OWN papers to be TRANSFERED...buttt...When my Father passed and my Mom wanted copies of all their files, then that was I think $1 a sheet...turned out to be almost 250... that was insane

I just read something about it online.. but there is a clause that if you write in your own handwriting that you are unable to afford to pay the fee - they cannot deny you and it is free then... duh why wouldnt i just write that...

I am an office manager in a medical office it is legal to charge and they cannot charge over 75 cents per page. HTH
on another note I do know of alot of offices that dont follow that rule so tell the lady to have a heart and transfer the records its xmas time for goodness sake

They are verrrry unorganized and rude at the office.. the ONLY office that I know that is open 7 hours a day 5 days a week and each day take a 2 hour lunch break and turn off the phones and lock the doors.. so needless to say.. i wasnt getting anywhere with her.. i just faxed her NYS law on it.. that if I write that I cant afford the copying fee then they cant deny me copies.. it would have been over $180 for my chart..

yup, they cant charge u more than 75cents a sheet... i personally never ever charge patient's. Only time i charge..is when law offices harraaaasss my for records, or when thye are just RUDE. thats when i tell them,,, as soon as i get a check for x-amount.. i will fwd them the documents . im a country singer also..when i need to be.
why did ur doc leave the practice? if youve been going to him for a while..he should know ur history.. i wouldnt worry bout getting your records... or, just get the last few dates of service.
