went for our cake tasting yesterday

i had always wanted a choc cake with choc mousse and buttercream icing.

we did not like their chocolate cake, and were semi-impressed with their vanilla.

the choc mousse was okay- but their choc fudge- OMG--- insert drool icon!

Fh loved their canoli filling.... and we were torn between the whipped cream and buttercream icing.

the whole process was confusing. we don't pick out our cake with the bakery, we pick it out through the hall.. so any questions I had yesterday, I was told to contact verdi's.
we picked a cake out of the book but want to make changes to it.. she said we had to contact verdi's.

and the whole tasting thing was not what I pictured.

we were given a plate with choc cake and vanilla cake, then another plate with cups that had the fillings and icing.



hopefully- the cake will be a light ivory with sangria colored swirls, and NO flowers... we want pears, but the bakery said they didn't make them.. so I might make them out of fondant or marzipan and deliver them the day before. if not... it'll just be plain with the swirls.

Yeah, cake tastings aren't generally how they show them on TV

that cake looks very pretty! and delicious sounding

That's how our cake tasting was, too. It's not like how they do it on my fair wedding or anything like that! lol!

But it's still fun and it makes sense. Glad you had a good time!

idk, I knew it wasn't like how it was on tv... I guess I figured it'd be like a little square piece of cake with a dollop of filling on it.

hahaha, yeah i know exactly what you mean ... my cake tasting felt much more ghetto than i expected too :-P

ETA: but the flavor is what counts

Glad to know... I'd have expected the TV experience!

I'm sure the cake will look awesome!
