Went home this weekend and tried on my mom's dress +++ PICS +++
So not only did I try on the sample of my dress but I also went home this past weekend and tried on my mom's dress.
My parents were married in 1964 in Ireland (where I was born). Here it is (please excuse the dark circles around my eyes!)!!!
Her dress was a tank dress in duchess satin with a lace top which buttoned up in the back. The train was detachable and we didn't bother to attach it for these photos.
I have wanted to try it on for years but gained so much weight after college I couldn't fit into it ... UNTIL NOW since I lost 30lbs last year!! Yay!
Inside her dress she had sown three blue satin bows. We are going to remove them and have them sown inside my gown as my something blue!!!

Aw thanks, it was fun to try it on ... It certainly did the trick as they are still happily married 44 years later, LOL!

I can't believe that is your mom in the first pic and the second is you...you look like identical sisters! That's such a sweet thing you did, alter her dress for you. Her dress was very elegant and simple enough to always stay in style....I love it!

Her dress was gorgeous on you! How special.
Just wanted to tell you that I saw a photo from a wedding where they did a table with candles and photos from the wedding's of married family(parents,grandparents,ect) the bride put her Mother's dress on display behind the table.
I wish I had the photo of that to share with you it was so neat. If I find it I will let you know

LOL! No it's me in both pics and there was no altering done, I just tried it on out of the storage box. I am wearing a different dress, a Kenneth Pool ball gown. And let's not kid around, it definitely is no longer in style but it was fun to try on nonetheless!

that dress is gorgeous! my moms dress screams 1984 - there are pics of my sister and i trying it on in my album! but that really is a beautiful dress!

No, I don't think so, it really isn't comfortable on me and I don't think it flatters (it's so high waisted!). I will take the bows onto my dress though and that's a good shout out to my mom!!!
