I was also thinking of doing little boxs of godiva chocolates but we are having a vienesse hour and giving out bakery box's at the end for people to take home whatever is left over. Fh's family is Italian and they make a big deal over the favors.. fmil has no problem spending $10 per favor its just I dont really like what I have been seeing... either is tacky or cheesy or not useful... I dont know what I am looking for and I doubt I will ever find it

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. I just finally gave in and did soemthing my mother wanted. Whatever makes her look good in front of the family. Originality is not really what my Italian family is looking for anyway, so I gave up.

they are $10 but if you are ordering in bulk you might be able to call to get a discount

I like all of your ideas.

There are inexpensive wines that taste good. Lindemans runs about $7 for a full bottle and it was voted the best tasting wine under $10 (I saw the sign in the liquor store so we tried and liked it). If you order larger quantites I am sure you can get them for less money.

For the cookie jar, what about a clear glass jar like this..


Add your cookies and then cover the lid with a piece of fabric and tie with ribbon, raffia, etc with the cookie cutter attached. This is a 12oz jar that starts at 77 cents each.
