It was very nice. A bit different from what I am used to in NY. It was in a catering hall on the harbor, and it was so pretty.
They had a cocktail hour (we were late because we sat in traffic). At the cocktail hour there was one table set up with assorted cheeses and fruit. There was also another table with coffee and tea.
There was 1 bar, in the cocktail room. Even throughout the reception you had to go back to the bar outside of the room. No big deal, it was right there, but, there was always a line!
After cocktail hour we went into the reception room, it was right next to the cocktail room. We got a salad and bread. We were never presented with a dinner choice. About an hour or so later, the staff came out food in hand, to one table at a time, and you were given the choice of steak or chicken. This was strange! But, the food was excellent.
There was no favor, just some skittles wrapped in tulle, which was cute.
And, on the way in, I noticed a gift table. They got A LOT of gifts, instead of cash.
Also, it was an open bar, no cash bar. Maybe it's not just a NY thing!!!

Re: Went to a wedding in Baltimore on Saturday!
I think with TV and the word of mouth of NY weddings things are changing elsewhere. Eventually Ny style weddings will be all over because everyone has this mentallity of the biggest and the best is my wedding!
That is why I HATE programs like super sixteen. I never heard of a sweet sixteen in a 'wedding' catering hall. We had ours if you were special at a VFW hall if not the backyard. I don't mind platinum weddings because the budget is so over top its like you can't even go near that unless your damn $$$$$$.

I had my Sweet 16 at Bennihana’s, and it made me a very happy girl.
I did have some friends who had big parties though…one in the Millridge Inn, and another at Fox Hollow.
