Went to a wedding last night! Here are some thoughts
We went to a wedding last night. It was a great one!
here are some thoughts, though.
I knew ahead of time that the bride was making the ceremony time on the invites 30 minutes early.
She wrote 8:15 pm, but it was really 8:45. We got there at 8:25 and all of the guests were waiting in the lobby. And, they were fuming! Comments were flying around the room like, 'I guess they changed their minds.' 'What are they doing, what's the problem?!' There were a couple stragglers who didn't get there until 9 pm anyway, but I guess my suggestion would be to only change the time on the invites by 15 minutes, not a half hour. Also, there were a few disabled guests and they looked very uncomfortable standing in the lobby.
Choose your bridal party very carefully. During the cake cutting, the best man (groom's brother) smashed a huge piece of cake in the bride's face. Then, he smashed another piece in the groom's face. The bride then went to the cake and tore into the next layer so she could get enough to smash on the best man. The band had started the 'father-daughter' song, but they had to stop because the bride and all of the parents ran out of the room seething with anger at the best man. The had an excellent vienesse hour (but no cake because after the food fight, there wasn't enough to serve everyone)
They did the anniversary dance instead of the bouquet toss and I loved it! (of course we got kicked out first!)
Make sure you have great music- this wedding had GREAT music. It was so fun watching the grandmas boogie down!
I thought it was a really nice touch that the bride's parents greated all of the tables. It was very welcoming. (I wish I had thought to do that!)
Oh, be careful with mapcards/directions. One of the road signs was missing, so a few people missed a turn and got lost. The directions only listed names of streets, but no other descriptives.
There weren't any favors. I'm a sappy person and I love favors.
I had a great time! OH, the SWEETEST thing was that during the dinner music, the bride got up and danced with the groom and was singing to him. Literally, everyone in the reception let out a loud 'AWWWWWW'.
Great wedding!!!
