Went to a wedding Tuesday night at the Country Gardens at East Wind--Going to a wedding tonight at the VYC

I missed most of CH cause I had to work on Tuesday- but I did manage to get a few bites and it was yummy! The pasta course was really good (just a penne a la vodka), salad was a bit boring. Just lettuce and a couple of cherry tomatoes. For the main course I ordered the pecan crusted chicken- I wasn't impressed, it was a little dry, but the mashed potatoes were good. My cousin (it was her friend's wedding, her boyfriend couldn't make it so she invited me since I've known this friend for a few years) ordered the salmon and she said it was very fishy, and it came with some kind of rice that looked (and tasted) like it was mixed with elmer's glue. The steak looked absolutely delicious and I wish I would've ordered it. ..I should've known better, I ordered the chicken dish (not pecan crusted something else) at FHs Fire Dept. dinner at the Inn at East Wind in April and it wasn't great either- but the steak was.

I don't know where East Wind gets their cakes but it was DELICIOUS!!! It had canolli filling in vanilla cake with whipped cream icing...so good!

Also, I was at the country Gardens about 4 years ago for a wedding, and I didn't like it at all- but they have since changed the flowery wall paper to a simple cream color and it looked SO much nicer!! The space was so simple and elegant...very pretty.

The staff was great as well- I have no complaints. And they had to work extra hard because the seating cards somehow got messed up in the printer so the waitstaff had to tell everyone where to sit off a list! They did a great job minimizing the confusion!

Her DJ was called IV Generation...they were ok...but not fabulous. I'm guessing the MC was the owner and his son (who looked about 18) was the DJ and his other son played the drums. The 2 sons took their formal clothes off 20 minutes before the wedding ended, which would've bothered me. One of them was also outside trying to bum a ciggarette off the guests They weren't too bad though- Everyone was dancing!!

I'm going to a wedding at the Venetian Yacht Clubn tonight and will be back with a full review tomorrow!

East Winds cakes come from Rolling PIN. They are the best. As far as the food i'm sorry you didn't like it.

My friend was in a wedding tonight at the VYC - I wonder if it was the same wedding you were at!
