Went to Birdy's & Culture Club on Saturday...
So now that I've gotten married I am going to all of these bachelorette parties and showers! I never went to any except for my own prior to my wedding! I just wanted to share my experience this past Saturday.
On Saturday was a good friend's shower/bachelorette party. First we had a shower at my apartment which was very mellow--champagne, brunch food and presents, and then met up at Birdy's Interactive Bachelorette Party at The Culture Club. Personally, it was not my cup of tea, and felt kind of dated--the entire sex education segment in this day and age of Sex and City was just silly, but our bride had a good time which is what counts. Except towards the end when there is a finale of sorts to 'It's Raining Men' (Birdy's is kind of like Tina and Tony's Wedding, where you are a guest at Birdy's bachelorette party, so there are actors and dancers running around talking to people about 'Birdy' and her 'fiancee' is a stripper at her party). Our bride turned to me and said 'This is lame' so we went downstairs to the Culture Club to go dancing.
The Culture Club played some good eighties music--but as the night went on their sound system sounded pretty bad, we went upstairs where they played some nineties music. I think we were out of there by midnight to 12:30 am. The major complaint in general was the price of the drinks--$7 for a beer, but our Bride had a blast.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place to future brides. Our tickets were $44 and I felt as though our Bride should have gotten more for what was paid. She got a lap dance and danced on stage with a dancer. But as I have said several times now, she did have a good time and that is what counts most.
I hope this helps future brides and BMs with planning bachelorette parties.
