We met with Lou and he was a total sweetheart, not to mention really funny. He showed us the upstairs room first when we said we'd probably only have about 120 people. We weren't thrilled with the room, it was just ok. We loved the main room downstairs though. I love raised ceilings and the ceiling in that room is gorgeous. He originally said that room usually has a 150 minimum but he saw how much I loved it and he said we could have it for a sunday afternoon in march with a 100 person minimum. And the price he gave us cannot be beat. This was the first place we've looked at so we're going to look around some more, but it's a definite possibility.
One of our concerns with the place is the lack of grounds to take pictures. They have the gazebo and a waterfall and that's really it besides the pier. I'd love to find a place where we could take pictures at so we don't have to go elsewhere before the ceremony.
The other concern, and this was more FH's concern than mine, is that the bridal party and I would have to enter the chapel on the side of the room rather than from the back as it's traditionally done. They are working on adding doors in the back but they're not sure if it can be done b/c of the pipes in the walls.
Anyone else want to share their thoughts on the place?

Re: Went to Chateau La Mer tonight
we are doing a sunday afternoon in january and got a great price. My mom had asked about coming in the back rather then the side. But the back is the utility room lol
the side could be cute though. come through the side then down the middle, give everyone a real good look at you!

The thing about CLM is that the pier and the water is its thing. I don't think it needs anything else. The water will provide tons of gorgeous photos for you! But I am also taking pictures at another location before the ceremony so that we have a variety. Good Luck with your search!

Where/what is the Argyle? If we could find a nice nearby place to take pictures at, we would really consider booking CLM.

argyle park is on montauk highway in babylon. 5 minutes from CLM. it is really pretty there and lots of people get their pictures taken there. i'll see if i can find some pictures of brides with pics taken there.
wow, thanks! The park looks really nice. I think we will check it out.

I am looking into the Old Westbury Gardens, but I guess that might be a little out of the way. Orginally we are from the north shore of nassau, but I just realized that my parents are moving to Smithtown, so I guess OWG is not a good idea. But I am going to do some research. I'll keep you posted!

Re: Went to Chateau La Mer tonight
We went to CLM too and decided against it for three reasons: 1- it was just too far from us (which was the leading reason) 2- we both felt that the cocktail hour room was too small for a winter wedding, in the summer people can go outside on the deck and we thought then it would be perfect but we didnt think it was roomy enough for 150+ people indoors 3- we didnt like the way the main room was set up b.c the b&g arent at the head of the room and how the rest of the guests were kind of shoved in the back of the room. FH also didnt like where the bar was located in the room.
On a good note the yacht arrival is awesome and I've heard the food it incredible. Plus their prices are great.

About the picture question, dont forget that you will take pics on the yacht also (depending on what month you are getting married)

Unfortunately you don't get the yacht entrance in March. Lou says the boat is only in the water from May-October.

We are going to take pictures at Old Westbury Gardens and Venetian Shores (which is around the corner from CLM). We have a church wedding so I can't really help about the ceremony.

When I went to meet with our photographer, we discussed picture locations. He recommended the Bayard Arboretum (or something like that.) However, when he found out that my parents live in Stonebridge, he said it was perfect. It is on a golf course and they have a lot of great spots, so we are taking them at their house, which makes it really easy for me, since thats where I am getting ready!
