so FH and i went to meet the priest at the chuch today! and well lets just say i was a totally MESS!!! i cried my eyes out the whole time.. i was tottally overwhelmed... mind you i havent been to chuch since i was in 5th grade (10 years) and church just makes me totally emotional and uncomfortable.. i dont know why ever since i was a kid i just feel totally uncomfortable. like theres a club of people who follow and know whats going on then theres me on the outside saying how come i dont understand? so then he was totally putting me on the spot and i just broke down and was balling my eyes out for the rest of the hour. i felt like such an arse. but oh well i guess its only normal!
so anyway WE GOT THE DATE!! and we will be getting married there ! he was really nice and really pretty funny so i felt comfy with him. so i guess we shall see how it goes.
teres NO pre-cana thank goodness.. but we have to do 3 or 4 sessions with just the 3 of us. then one at some place like community service kinda thing.
so all in all it was ok. i have to get used to being there and when i left i said ill try not to cry next time. and he just laughed and said its ok its an overwhelming thing

Awwww, dont feel bad, church is uncomfortable for alot of people, Fh and I have been trying to go every Sunday, so we feel more comfortable for the day of. Maybe thats something you should try.

yes we were told that we now need to be at church.. the only reason we dont go is cuz i work on sundays and my only day off to get soem sleep is sat. so we havent gone.. but looks like i no longer have any reasonable excuses

I know exactly what you mean about church being uncomfortable and feeling like youre not part of the 'club'. I feel the exact same way! But I've been going more often now and each time I go I feel more and more comfortable. So rest assured....it will get better!

Honestly I'd feel kinda weird not going to church then having the priest marry us.
I started going to my FH temple (I'm Jewish) for the past few months - I work on Saturdays and my only days off are Sunday and Tuesdays until the summer. I started to go to weekend (Saturday evening and Sunday evening) services a few months back (before we were engaged) and I felt weird at first because I am not a religious person. I do enjoy it and after getting to know people in the temple I don't mind going at all.
Also it lets the priest get to know you and FH better.

i can get married there but he strongly suggests that we be at church often especailly since im NOT episcipalian (sp?) so i should learn how they operate!

glad it worked out!
i have to say - i went to church every single sunday until i was 18, and my parents said i could make my own choices. so of course, i stopped going - i was a brat.
i really regret that i stopped and i started going again for Lent and I have to say - i feel so much more comfortable now. . . you will get used to it.
thats great that you felt comfortable with him - congrats on getting your date!

Don't feel bad. No matter how long you haven't been to church they will marry you. I kinda get nervous too around priests but the majority of them are really nice.

i know they will marry me but i get so nervous and overwhelmed that i cry.. but thats with anything..like if i get into a confrontation with someone i could be mad as hell but i cry instead.. its weird but its just howi respond.. so i was hard to hold it back

its terrible.. i cry at EVERYTHING... just taking about the wedding makes me cry... i dont know why.. but i guess its cuz im a person that keeps all y feelings about it to myself and then like saying the words..'i love this about you' and 'i love that about you' just hits me.. so i balled my eyes out the whole time !
the poor guy prob thinks... oh my god this poor girl is gettting forced into this marriage. i def. would have thought that !
