We are having a small wedding and only want to invite 100 people (50 on my side 50 on FH's side). Well, we went to fil's house to get their sides guest list and they have about 75 people! I didnt even realize that they went over by that much until we got home and I sat down and counted everybody! So I made Fh call his mom and they were like 'well about 20 of them arent going to come!' So now I'm worried about what will happen if these people FMIL thinks arent gonna come decide to come! I will f uckin kill her!!!! So, what was the percentage of people that usually say no?

I think the RH says 10 to 20% don't come...don't remember. We were inviting 200 total and they were like well 150 to 160 may show up.
But if she says 20 of them aren't going to come, I guess why invite them?

I guess because they are immediate family she feels they have to be invited.

I would just tell FH to call his mom back and say that if some people say no then she can start inviting off her B list...make her make an A list and then a B list.
Just remember it is your wedding...not theirs.

My FH is such a little b itch when it comes to his parents! It took me 20 min. and a huge fight to get him to call the first time!! The way im looking at it is if all these people show up FH is gonna have to pay for them, so its his problem! I just dont want to hear him ***** if it does happen!

they say 20 percent do not come but i mean nothing is set in stone till u get that response card back..i would tell fh to tell her anyone over the 100 that she invited she should pay for..and if she dont like that then she should give u a b list to invite later on..also if it is still worrying u ask her why she knows they would not come..whats the reason?maybe once u know what it is that might make u feel better..hth let me know what happens

I would turn to FH and say (and I actually had to do this), 'Well, if she can invite x number more, then we're inviting that many more!!!' He actually got her to agree to pay for any of her friends that went over our preferred ultimate max, so that worked out. Hope that everything works out for you!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's better to be safe than sorry and have the cushion...cuz you know if we don't meet our minimums, our RH ain't throwing in any freebies to make up for it

I already know of a couple of people on my list who can't go, so I've already put a couple of extra names on the list as a result. We're still sending out invites to the people who said no already--you never know with this economy if vacation plans will change--but we're prepared to meet our minimum!!!

We decided to just invite them. im not a huge fan of the A/B list because I feel like the people from the B list know that they were on the B list and I dont want people to be insulted.
Its so annoying that our RH is such a PITA!

i do hear that they say that 15 - 20% OFTEN don't come, but of course, that's only a guideline. ugh, sorry. i hope that it all works out!! :o)
