Went to see Patken last night!

Wow, you guys were so right!

They're a little more expensive than I really want, but I can live through it (especially if I can get Adam's parents to pay for a few things). And they do such beautiful work!

So I call Mom and tell them how much I love their work, and the price is fairly reasonable, and I tell her to go to the website. I got this letter:

'Okay, I saw the website. I didn't see the whole thing because it was too slow. Looks like there are 3 video packages. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with some photos, but it's too hard to tell. Since you saw their work in his studio, I'm sure you got a better look. If you are happy with them, I have don't have any objections. Dad wants to know how many other photographers are you checking out?'

This isn't a huge deal because Mom did say that she had no objections to them. But oh well.

Steve and Vinny are booked for my date - who are you guys using from Patken?

Wow, I had no idea that Doug was a little extra. He took our engagement photos as well, and we were so pleased. I agree that Patken is a little pricey, but well worth the cost.

i didnt even show my mom the pictures from them(my sister used gray studios so she was saying about paying extra for them but i chose patken)
doug is extra(1,500, or 2,000 extra although hes suppose to be real good)

Hi we are using Doug...hes the owner and a little extra but hey you only get 1 chance at the wedding of you dreams ...why not remember them with the best pics youll have for the rest of your life...

i would like to use patken also, but only want photgraphy and no video. Could somebody email me the prices of some of his smaller packages, we will upgrade later. thanks

So here's my next question:

Mom and Dad want me to look at a few more studios. Over the next week and a half or so my schedule is insane (Jewish Holidays, sitting shiva for my fiancee's uncle, back and forth to my parents' in CT, down to MD to meet with our Rabbi), and I've been able to fit in appointments with photographers sporadically.

However, my last Photgrapher appt. is 10/15.

Should I just book Patken, or take a chance on losing them and look at the other studios?

As you know, the photography budget is pretty tight, and Mom is not budging on the Video issue.

I'm in the same boat kindof... I live in CT and everything is in LI. We definitely do not want to go there every single weekend. I think that if you really like Patken, to just go for them. I'm all about not making this planning any more stressful than it is. If you're happy and comfortable, go for it! I'm trying to plan my wedding as easy as possible so I can enjoy being engaged!
