Went to wedding at Eastwind this weekend....
I haven't posted here in a while, but just thought I'd post about the wedding I went to at Eastwind Caterers. The wedding was at a church, the reception started at 7:00pm. The cocktail hour was in one house-type bldg and the reception was in another hall, the food was excellent as was the service. No complaints about them at all, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous not to mention that the weather was perfect on Friday. The wedding was about 140-150 ppl, so I'm not sure if the room was at it's max, but it was kind of tight. Our table was half against the wall, and you had to squeeze through to get in and out. This was kind of an inconvenience for those who wanted to walk around and talk to people. I didn't notice this problem during the cocktail hour. Everyone loved the prime rib, no one at my table chose the stuffed filet of sole. They also had good kids food. The photographer was ADA, and this is just my opinion, I'm not sure if it was the bride and groom's instruction to them or not, but they waited until the reception (during the salad time) to take family pics. Well, by then it was dark, and I think people wished that they had been taken earlier.
The DJ was Tommy Tunes, and again JMO, not sure if it was the bride and groom's play/do not play lists and style, but something was off, and the people I talked to said they had a hard time dancing, I think it was something about the way they were mixing the music.
I'm not sure who the videographer was, but between the bright lights that he had and the photographer's flash, I was kind of turned off, and felt intruded when the videographer was shining the light and his camera in my face. Just something to think about to make sure your guests are happy too.

I recently attended a wedding in which Tommy Tunes was the DJ and I got the same vibe. Very hard to dance to. But could have been what music the bride and groom chose.

I also attented my girl friends wedding tommy tunes was the dj.I was not empressed at all. They changed the dj at the last min on my girlfriend,i heard he does this on a regular basis. My girlfriend was so upset. And the dj they sent didnt even have a feel for the crowed. It was like he was playing music for himself.I went to go see him anyway but didnt like the meeting i had with them i felt as if i was just another bride he was trying to book.I feel he is to commercialized, there is no personability with him.Im sorry but just my opinion.Maybe other girls have had good dealings with him but my girlfriend didnt ,nor did i when i sat with them.

I saw this and just had to tell my 'Tommy' story. I met with them and I like the guy I dealt with, but I have to say, I did feel that they were somewhat 'commercialized'. I was considering booking them when I saw them at a bridal show and didn't care for them. They were too loud, and they were mixing songs in a way that was not enjoyable at all, I couldn't even recognize any of the songs! Then, they had a percussionist and a live singer perform. I was thinking, if I hire a DJ, why would I hire a live singer. Anyway, I just felt that they were trying to 'sell' all they had instead of just playing. However, to any girls who did book them, I could see why you would, they were nice, and they are a big organization, so you know that they wont be out of business one week after you book them!

My friend had Tommy Tunes for her wedding. They were pretty good. I think they played the type of music she requested but everyone was on the dance floor dancing. I personally prefer a band and my FH and I don't like all the props and when they get on the dance floor to do a show. I think there is no way around the videographer with the camera though. How else could he video tape the wedding? I was at a wedding where the video people where standing on the chair videotaping I think that was more annoying.Welcome New Vendors
