We're close to becoming homeowners
We're 99% sure that we're buying my grandparents house! We had an appraiser and an architect come in yesterday.
Since my grandparents are up in age, we will not displace them so we are essentially going to make the house a two family home by buidling onto the house and building a second floor. The architect had wonderful ideas. It was so exciting, it's almost like having a new house built. He was talking about doing cathedral cielings in our LR so that you can look over from the hallway upstairs and doing a wrap-around porch. My grandparents already have an in-ground pool which needs to be updated so we would redo the backyard as well.
This is very meaningful to my family because the house started as a summer bungalow for my grandparents 50-something years ago and gradually my grandfather and his brother's kept building on until it was house to live in year-round. They relocated from Astoria to that house 48 years ago. They always said they would never sell to strangers because they wanted the house to stay in the family and now it will.
If this comes to fruition, there will be a ton of activity from me on here with pictures throughout the whole process! Keep your fingers crossed for us that everything keep moving as smoothly as it is now.
