It’s not really a “beachy” or “resorty” type vacation… I’ll save that for the HM!
BUT, Vinny and I booked a trip to WASHINGTON DC for July!!! He has NEVER been there and I LOVE it there. We are staying from July1st through July 7th. So we will be there for all the fireworks on the Fourth and we want to do some major sightseeing! I think, most of all, we would just like some time alone together. Things have been beyond hectic for us lately and it feels like the weeks are just rushing by and sometimes we feel like we are passing ships in the night. Since I’m off that entire week in July I really wanted to take advantage of it... I'm so happy!
Don’t worry Athena my darling… We’ll be back in plenty of time for your wedding!!!
I’ll be a little sad that I won’t be here to congratulate all of the 7/7/07 brides!!! That’s such a HUGE day for us 07ers but I will definitely play catch up and get to see all the pics when we get back. I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures of DC while I’m there and we have already planned to spend some time with Laura and Mike (Laural2979) since they live there. I’m so excited to see them again!!
We got an amazing fare from Southwest… 26 dollars each way per person!!! I mean, that’s INSANE! We are SO happy. So it came to about 50 dollars round trip (LOL!). Then, we found an awesome Hotel (very trendy) right in Dupont Circle… It’s only a few blocks from The White House and The National Mall. We are so thrilled to be going away and to have the chance to finally spend some time together- NOT working!! We can’t wait. We need to bring the 'us time' back!

all the monuments - and there are a few groups of monuments that are within walking distance of each other - so you can do that group - or one group each day....
definitely lincoln memorial, white house, world war II monument (relatively new- its beautiful!) - the capitol building, the supreme court building, the library of congress, washington monument.
write to your congressman now to see if he can get you tickets to go in the white house (although that is usually hard!)
then, DC has BEAUTIFUL museums that I think are under-utilized.
the botanical gardens, ALL the smithsonians, museum of american history - and most are free.
the brewery right next to union station is good for a bite to eat (they have good fish and chips) there is also an irish pub across the street.
you will have so much fun!

You're talking about the Capital City Brewhouse and the Irish Times. Many a drunken night have been spent in those places...and the museums are good too if you want to distract yourself from the bars.

You know -- I think that is SO important! Sometimes we get so busy with work, wedding stuff, our apt, pets -- etc. that we never have 'us' time.
Awesome idea -- and great hotel! -- you guys deserve it! You'll have such an amazing time!
