We're not going to Disney anymore....

And I am upset. Well, mad is more like it. We are going to Florida next week to visit my very ailing grandparents whom have never met JT. I am very upset about going to see them becuase I have not seen them in a while and I am scared to see them in such poor health, but my grandmother knows she and my grandfather will never make it to my wedding next year (because they can't travel). So my one highlight was that we were going to Disney before we came home. JT has off all next week from work, then he took the Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week off so we could go to Disney. Well, as he was leaving work yesterday, his supervisor said, 'By the way, I know you took off the 6th and 7th, but if you don't show up those two days, I'm not paying you for your vacation.' and she walked away! So JT followed her and asked her what that was all about and when was someone going to tell him this? And she just said that's their policy, you cannot extend a vacation and if you do, you lose pay for the entire vacation. He was SOOOOOOO pissed because although he understands the policy, why didn't someone tell him this when he told them WEEKS ago that he was not going to be there the two days after their vacation? They WAITED until he was leaving to tell him. And now our plans are set, so we have to cut out our two days that we were going to go to Disney so we can be back for him to go to work on time.

that's very very unfair -- what's his company's policy on PAID vacation time -- I'm assuming he has a certain number of days he can use -- I've never heard of a policy such as that

That really sux!!! I would be furious if my employer pulled a stunt like that!

Does he have a handbook? He should double check that policy.

My office has a policy where if you call in sick the workday before or after a holiday, you don't get paid for the holuiday. BUT this doesn't apply for scheduled time off.

They have forced vacation time because they are a 12 month school, so EVERYONE has this week off. It's BS, and it doesn't say it in his handbook, that's the best part. He is going down to the central office tomorrow to try to fight it, but he doesn't want to chance losing a week and a half's pay. The good news is, we think he may have another AWESOME job editing the news for a well-known news station, so he may be leaving this place VERY soon. In which case, he feels at least he's getting his week's paid vacation from them. This new job pays MUCH more, so we will just have to go to Disney for a week in the fall It's STILL BS, though!

That really stinks! But hopefully you'll see Mickey and Minnie in the Fall! Hey, at least it will be cooler then!
