Were you ever disappointed at a wedding?

No need for specifics just a question?

Have you ever been disappointed with a wedding? Not your own but someone who planned and planned, talking constantly about how they have this and that planned for a unique touch. Then when you actaully went the wedding was nice but nothing celebrity like? Or have a couple exaggerate how much their wedding cost when the product did not match the $$$$...what do you say when this per(s) ask you for feedback??

I lied and said it was a wonderful wedding. I dont have the heart to bash their wedding. I've been to two weddings where one was a complete disaster and another was very expensive, but didnt look it.

the only one i was dissapointed in was one I went to in Virginia... I guess since i was used to NY weddings. There were actually family members there wearing jeans and flannel shirts... It was buffet style, but still, break out the khaki's at least!

It was probably just because i had a different idea of what a wedding should be, but myself, and my family, kind of went into shock...

We just said that the food was good (which it was) and that we had a good time.

I went to a wedding where I was starving at the end, there was hardly any food and the favor was a tealight wrapped in tulle with a little flower on it, this couple bragged and bragged about how expensive it was. I said to myself it was???????

I was disappointed with a few weddings, but one in particular because this person bragged and bragged about her tent wedding on the grounds of a beautiful mansion.... She went on and on about how different her wedding will be 'from the usual cookie cutter Long Island weddings' etc. I ended up freezing my arse off in a tent with my feet in five inches worth of grass on the grounds of what maybe I would consider a big house (hardly a mansion). There was only one bathroom, the line was always huge, I managed to sneak into some off limits part of the house to use the bathroom there (it was my little secret all night, I kept going to that bathroom). The service was non existent and the food was cold. Other than that it was fabulouso.

Leniedar I hope no one says that we played too much fast lol. Seriously we had like 3 slow songs. All the rest were calypso, reggae and popular songs..the dnacefloor was never empty..I learend that just because we are in love..not all people who come to weddings are

Yup! She was one of those people that her wedding was going to be the event to end all and I have to say it was probably the worst wedding that I or anyone else we know ever went to. It was so scheduled and stuffy that no one felt comfortable.

One thing I do find interesting is how rarely what was spent on the affair is related to the time we had or having a memorable experience. One of the simplest and yet most meaningful weddings I have ever been to was between a couple of broke grad students on a cliff in California. They were just so in love and excited about their new life that you felt it and were right there with them. I have been to weddings where money has been spent out the window and the obsessions are about flowers that were 'not high enough' rather than the families uniting. I guarantee you, I did not notice the missing 1/8 inch from the floral arrangments -- I did, however, certainly notice the bride's sister going on and on about it. To be clear, I have also been to very lavish weddings that are really special and meaningful. Bottom line is there are no ground rules and that real love and joy transcend budget (high or low.)

Re: Were you ever disappointed at a wedding?

I went to a wedding in Oklahoma. They had a few quiches, some friut, a punch, and some water. I was very hungry and thirsty. I just wanted a damn diet coke. They also didn't alter the BM gowns so they fit everyone different and were way too big or small on all the girls. It was very bible belt christian and all they talked about was god bless this and that and I hope that the couple glorifies the lord in every day of thier married life..... I felt like FH and I would burst into flames and decend into hell on the spot
I was uncomfortable the whole time. And this I spent lots of money on plane tickets for!
Def. not a NY wedding. They are going to think FH and I are heathens

Re: Were you ever disappointed at a wedding?

Deb your post is so correct and honestly what I trying to get at. When I was planning I met many other 'to be wed' couples and there were 2 who basically bragged about everything under the sun. So they built up this hype and when we saw the end result it was lacking. Now we have the critique that the bride so wants to hear...I gave it was a beautiful wedding but she wants specifics as to what made it stand out..honestly nothing that I call wedding like and enviable. It was pretty but they both were on aopposite sides of the hall most of the night so I didnt get to see the emotion that I hope would h ave been there. I dont want to lie to her and am scared she will see theough my graciousness.

same here. The wedding was just SO bad (DJ STUNK) and the bride was just SO happy- I didn't want to break her heart.

YES!!! Can't get into the details of it - but of course I said 'it was great' even though it was so terrible.

Re: Were you ever disappointed at a wedding?

I was disappointed at the bathrooms at one wedding... they were really tight and not very clean... and this was at a really well known and $$ place. I don't know if it is just me, but when we were looking at halls, that was one of things I would try to pay attention to.
