Does anyone live in this area? Any thoughts? I was looking at housing prices over there and they are pretty decent so why skeptical side is wondering why.

Re: West Babylon
It definitely depends on which part of West Babylon. We are trying to get a house there now that the Lindenhurst one fell through and the schools are not the best, but they are not bad either. Some of West Babylon borders very clsoe to Wyndanch, so keep that in mind when you look.
The more desirable parts are considered 'up & coming'

Re: West Babylon
I've lived in WB my entire life so if you have specific areas let me know. WB SD is not great (I graduated in '95 and it was starting to get bad and I met s/o recently who student taught there in '97 & said it got alot worse). We thought about buying a house there but knowing the area so well, we decided against it. There are definitely worse towns on LI. FM me if you find a house you're interested in and I can give you more specifics about the area if you'd like. Good luck!

It varies from year to year. I have a friend who currently lives there and is right on the W/N boder. She has been tracking the schools for years now & it does seem to flip-flop back & forth. Realistically, she will most likely send her boys to Private School once they finish Kindergarten.
Her neighborhood iteslf though is quite nice. We are also moving very close to her & the neighborhood we are looking it is also very nice....I guess the schools just haven't caught up yet
