Westbury Manor

Has anyone been to the Westbury Manor for a wedding reception? Or had their reception there? If yes, how was the service, atmosphere, food and everything else? Any comments about this place?

Some thoughts..

Never been to a wedding there but I have been there several times for a showcase.

Some thoughts:

The exterior is beatifully landscaped. The bathrooms could use a renovation but are very convienent as there is a sink in each stall. The banquet room on the first floor has several nice french doors that open to the garden but the room itself feels cramped because of the low ceilings.

The food is Scotto Brothers which always has a good reputation. The staff always seem curtious but I havent dealt with them much.

Westbury Manor

I attended a wedding there at the beginning of July. The food was delicious and the grounds were beautiful.

The one problem I found with the place is that there was not enough staff for the number of guests. The water glasses were not refilled often enough, all of the empty drink glasses were left standing on the table (for the whole evening), the sherbert course dish was left on the table.

If you choose to use Westbury Manor, make sure the waitstaff is large enough for your party.

My sister got married there 2 yrs ago

overall, everything was great - especially for the price they paid. There were a few things we weren`t too happy with - they promised we would have access to the cocktail room for the entire length of the party (we were upstairs, and there was a terrace there so the smokers could go out) but as soon as the cocktail hr was over, another party came in. When asked about the room, they had no idea what we were talking about. I agree about the earlier comment on wait staff. I remember plates and empty glasses on the tables too.
However, the outside grounds are beautiful, the inside is nicely decorated, and it doesn`t cost an arm and a leg for a really nice wedding!

went there twice

a friend got married there about 2 years ago and she was upstairs - problem was the room was a little cramped...but I loved the upstairs cocktail hour room. but the upstairs bathroom is only one stall and very narrow - hard to get around when other people are there.

I went last month for an end of the year party for the school i work at and it was good. I actually got the vegatarian plate and it came out steaming!!!(it continued for a few minutes also) This was also in the upstairs smaller room. There were no crackers at cocktail hour - but there was cheese so someone asked and they said we didn't pay for it...the price was only $45pp including to pay for the dj (on a thurs night - no frills company party). I remember plates being cleaned up, but I do remember one of the waitresses had an attitude and looked like she did not want to be there, but thats only one person. It wasn't a wedding, but I still had fun that night. But they had cheesy 'non-melting' candles that I did not like.

My sister was a photographer's assistant and when she was helping me look for a hall, she said it has great pictures...and the shrubbery hides Jericho Tpke and you would never know it was there.

Westbury Manor

I went to look at Westbury Manner a few months ago for my wedding. I was so turned off by the lobby that we didn''t even look at the rooms. The people were not particularly nice that we spoke to...and I have heard the same not so nice things about the bathroom. What made me walk out were the ashtrays everywhere and the big cigarette machine as soon as you walk in the place. I''m not a crazy anti-smoking nut, I''m marrying a smoker....but that was not classy at all. None of this means they don''t do a wonderful wedding though.

Westbury Manor

My sister got married there and everything was fabulous. The only thing that sucked was that she was promised one bridal suite and got stuck in another bridal suite which was the size of a closet. But how much time do U spend in there anyway? It was one of my favorite weddings and I've been to many.

I'm having mine there tomorrow (sun 7/29). I'll let you all know how it goes. The staff has been very helpful and friendly so far...Maybe because my FI is in the wedding biz.

Westbury Manor - on a TLC 'A Wedding Story'

I was watching A Wedding Story yesterday and the couple was from Valley Stream. Their reception took place at the Westbury Manor. Just wanted to share - I thought it was neat!

Westbury Manor

I am getting married there on August 3rd. We had originally booked the Crest Hollow Country Club but decided to change to the Westbury Manor based on a friend`s wedding that was the best wedding I have ever been to. So far everyone has been very accomodating. I`ll let you know how it goes, but I am expecting it to be wonderful based on personal experience.
