Westbury Manor Brides

Girls, I know I've posted this before but Im having serious doubts about the room Im in. Im in the upstairs Hill Room, and first of all Im not crazy about it and secondly Im afraid that it will be too tight...the Garden minimum is slightly higher that what we're expecting (around 75-80) people, therefore, it would run us a lot more if an unnecessary expense...

Im torn...should I switch to the Garden Room (Im not even sure if the date is available) or should I stay where I am and stop bugging out??? Mike says that Im tripping about the whole thing...but then again you know how men are...

Please help!

Sylvia, I had the same concerns about the Garden Room. I called them and spoke to a BM about it. I explained my concern. Perhaps it's not booked yet and you can move up a bit. I too was tempted to move up to the Manor room (we would have been paying for empty seats too) but first, it was booked, and second, I realized I had a minor freak out.

If you are expecting as many yes's as the room's capacity, try to switch it. If you need to add a few on to you list, I am sure you will find some willing additions ( ) at least you'll get a gift from the seat-fillers, rather than just paying for air.

alternatively, if you were looking to do menu upgrades, perhaps you could negotiate some settlement bet. the cost of the higher minimum (the amount you will be under) and have them mitigate the cost of the upgrade in some way. I hope this makes sense.

good luck!

You're a true doll! Thank you for your advice Jess...the thing is that I think capacity wise we'll be allright but I just wanted a little bit bigger room for more space to dance etc...the thing is that they will not only bump up the minimum but also the price per person...

Re: Westbury Manor Brides

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. We booked the Hill Room on my credit card for 9/16/06 and we didn’t see the room because there was a wedding taking place. My fiancé and I went the following weekend before a wedding was to start to see the room and we were not pleased. The room was too small. The event coordinator showed us the Garden Room and thought it was a tad bigger. She looked in the book for our date and it was already booked. She told us that 9/1/06 was available and so we booked it. The price for the Garden Room was $20 dollars more than the Hill Room. We were still not happy with our decision. We discussed on how to go about and cancel the room. My fiancé went to speak with the event coordinator and told her that due to a personal matter, we would have to cancel the room. She wanted to know what the matter was and my fiancé said he did not want to discuss it. My fiancé asked if we could have our deposit returned. She told him to have me call because it was my credit card and she needed the number and they would credit my card. We were so happy that we got our money back. We booked our reception at the Fox Hollow.

Syl,

If the Garden Room is only a 'tad' bigger than the Hill Room, stay where you are.

if you want bigger dancing space, we'll go to the Copa on Tues for $5- why blow upwards of $2-$3k on that luv.

Why don't you find out if its available for your date? They charge more depending on the room?

I have to honestly tell you at first I freaked with all the heresay on the WM thread regarding seating about the Garden Room. We ended up with 100 in the GR. It was perfect and we actually could have fit more in the room. I think if you're looking for 75-80 people in that room it might look a little empty. DH & I were surprised that day how large the room seemed to look. It was perfect.
There was a wedding upstairs in the Hill Room the day we were married. It looked beautiful. Your guests will have complete run of the upstairs and will have their own restrooms too.
I honestly think you would be better off keeping things as is, but speak to a bride who was married in the Hill Room. I believe Valentinegirl was.
Good luck! HTH.

You're 100% correct...Mike just told me the same thing...as a matter of fact he said that he wants us in the smaller room since we're having a small amount of people he says he wants everyone to feel 'the love'... he said that not everyone is going to be jamming at the same time...(he goes I dont think our parents and our grandparents will jam to Biggie -he's nuts)...
