Hi Long island brides, this is my first message on the board this site is soooo helpful. I have finally after 7 years of trans atlantic love moved to New York to live with my fiance ! Wedding planning is a little different here in NY and I am finding it a little stressful. We are close to booking Westbury Manor for 0ct/Nov 2006. Lots of you have been to WM and i could really use some help with a few questions. I wanted to know if the two wedding parties end up using the Library and Garden room during the evening? Our banquet manager said the two weddings will be staggered the second wedding would start their cocktail hour 1 hour after ours. Some how I feel like both weddings will all end up using the same areas throughout the wedding. Will the bride and grooms see each other ? What is the bridal suite like at WM ? One last thing, what is the best date for an autumn wedding? I would really love my wedding photo's to have the golden leaves of the trees.

Re: Westbury Manor Dilemma!
Hi there and welcome! I can't really offer much advise on WM, it wasn't a venue that I went to go see, but I can offer some in regards to autumn time, and just keep in mind the daylight savings time to ensure you have enough daylight for photos! You may want to check out an '06 calendar to see when we turn back the clocks. Good luck and have fun planning!

Re: Westbury Manor Dilemma!
Hi! Welcome and Congrats!
I booked the WM and I have use of the Library and the Garden Room. I am a little confused about your concern.
yes there are potentially 2 or even 3 weddings going on at one time, but they are all in separate rooms.
if you have the garden room, you have exclusive use of that room and the library all night.
I think they use the GR for the CH of weddings in the Manor Room, but they are staggered to that your GR will be set up at the correct time for your wedding.
in terms of seeing other brides, I guess it is possible though people say it's unlikely. personally I really don't care, nor would I mind- I already know mine is not the only wedding going on in the world on my day- and NO ONE could make the day feel any less special for me- but to each her own. it bothers some girls a lot.

Hi JessicaM
Thanks for your reply, You bring up a good point about not being the only wedding, I don't really know why it worries me so much. We are hoping to book the larger reception room and then we would have use of the three other rooms for cocktail hour as we have over 200 people. It's just a bit of a strange concept to me because a lot of weddings halls in the UK are only big enough to hold one wedding. Good luck with your wedding at WM maybe I will be joining the WM brides if I can make up my mind this week.

Re: Westbury Manor Dilemma!
I booked WM, and my reception is in the manor room. The CH will be outside if weather permits, and if not it will be in the Library and Conservatory. The bridal suite was a little on the small side, I was thinking about getting ready there, but then decided not to because it was too small (and also I wanted to get ready at home). I am not really concerned about seeing other brides.

Re: Westbury Manor Dilemma!
Hi...We are getting married in Nov at WM and have the Manor room for our reception. We have the library and the conservatory for our CH and if necessary they will extend it into the Garden Room. They said that if another wedding takes place their ch will start an hour after mine (mine starts at 7:00pm(...I'm not too worried about there being another wedding at the same time ours is going on for a few reasons:
1. Its on a Friday night and the CH starts at 7:00...not sure how many people would start a ch at 8:00 pm on a Friday...A Saturday is a different story 2. Its in November so the odds of someone having a wedding the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving in the daytime hours is highly unlikely...all daytime weddings that I have been too have been in the warmer months...
But like I said if there should be another wedding going on...I'm not too concerened...they will manage it...Good Luck

that's only at night. during the day, Manor Room weddings get the library/conservatory for CH.
