We used the free wedding planner at the Watermill
She helped us to get invitations, and to give us some ideas for what to do first....but other than that, we did it all pretty much on our own.....
She can help you do alot - but we wanted to take care of it ourselves!
I thought it was a pretty nice service to be able to use!!

They want you to use thier vendors because they all pay a commission back to the house . That does not mean that the vendors are the best around like they try to tell you. I think some of the best vendors are right here on this site . The girls on here are more informed then the Scotto Perfect Wedding Planners. BIG $$$$$ to be a 'SCOTTO' vendor and the consumer pays that overhead. Do yourself a favor stick to the boards.

They do suggest that you use their vendors, but ultimately, the choice is your's of oucrse. I booked some of their vendors but not all.
I think it's a fabulous resource to have, if only to give you some guidelines along the way

by the way - how'd the meeting go?

I didn't use them. I live in Brooklyn and I feel more confident having my vendors closer to me...but thats just me, I've seen great reviews about their vendors on here. Good Luck!

I went to a planning seminar. It was only helpful b/c it was pre-LIW & I won the raffle for $250 off our rehersal/shower if ts at a scotto place.

I met with one of the planners once about a month ago (dont remember her name) - never again! Topics she was clueless on:

- chocolate fountain 'whats that?'
- letterpress invitations 'I've never heard of those'
- wine as a favor 'why would you want to give them wine if they can drink it for free all night - you have an open bar dear'
- ceremony rehersal for the gardens - keep in mind half the folks have never been to a NY wedding, some have never been in a wedding & am the KLUTZ of all brides - 'you dont need a rehersal, we'll tell you where to stand and after you walk down the aisle its all self explanitory'
- flowers w/no filler 'what if instead of filler you just have the florist add a lot of babys breath & fern leaves'

I REALLY hope they are a helpful service for someone else & my experince was just a bad one...cause they sure do push them on you.

I went to the seminar which was a complete waste of time. The lady was snobby and mean.

Anyway, no matter how good they are I refuse to contribute more $ to Scotto than I already am!

I am getting married at Fox Hollow. I went and met with them and used them as a guide, but i am actually only using one of their vedors (pedastals for flowers). I met the inhouse guy too...and as if wedding planning isnt stressful ENOUGH the in house florist almost made me cry! (so what if i dont know alot about flowers, i told you what i DONT like, now help me find what i DO!)

I am having a phone appt with them as a follow up, just so i can be sure i am on track and not missing anything though.

I've had nothing but a great experience with the Scotto planners - Perfect Wedding Planner. Giovanna and Chris have been really great to us. We got our invitations from them and they were gorgeous, I have been getting phone calls about how nice they are! We got them about a week after we ordered them. There were problems with something - I forget what - and they were fixed for free within the week. Then my parents found out they were moving and we had to get the response card envelopes reprinted - Giovanna did her best to get them done for free, but it couldn't be done. They were really inexpensive to reprint, though, and they were done within the week as well. Also, Giovanna once met with me without an appointment when I was freaking out over problems with their vendors and worrying over planning stress. She really calmed me down.

Chris, the florist, is also awesome. He was put on this earth to do our wedding, I'm quite sure. I met with him and it was like he was reading my mind. I obviously haven't seen the final product, but I am very confident that Chris will come through for us.

Not a Scotto bros bride, but wanted to add my .02. My cousin got married at the Watermill last year and got her invitations from them. While they were very pretty, she totally got ripped off. For what she paid you would expect a William Arthur type quality - but so not the case.

I don;t think it was a total waste of time we got some free drinks and cheese out of it lol

but I feel they had no clue about what things really cost etc

I thought they were very informative . I only used their in-house florist but at the time I was in the beginning stages of planning and it was a good idea to go and speak to different vendors they recommend to get a feel of prices and what 's offered. You get a drink and some finger food plus some useful information. You are not obligated to use their recommended vendors at all.
