Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

I really love both of these sites, but I can't decide!! Help!
I was wondering which site you all think is better, I'd love some feedback and thoughts.. What are some of your experiences??

Thanks!!

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

im partial i'm getting married at wm, but i looked at both, and we picked it over watermill, becuase we were having a smaller wedding and would't have the nicer room in the basement, instead we were to be on 1st floor and have to share a bathroom, with i think a sweet 16?!? also, the gardens at wm are amazing and thats the kind of cocktail hour we wanted, but both are beautiful, and owned by the same family, so the service is great either way, Good Luck!

I LOVE the Westbury Manor-- I picked that beacuse of the 'feel' and ambiance of the place.... I have heard only good things-- but the watermill is nice also.

Well I'm biased...we are getting married at the Watermill...we love that place...been to two weddings there and the service/food/atmosphere was excellent....We've also been to Westbury Manor for two weddings...the first time happened to be the day after 1/2 their wait staff went on strike...needless to say the service was horrible...a few months after that we had another wedding there...service was better but for us it didn't compare to the Watermill

Like I said though I'm partial to the Watermill

I have never seen the Watermill so I cant comment on that but I choose WM bec of its Victorian era decor, its a manion with history, I wanted the outdoor CH and VH, the gardens are breathtaking, the food is superb and the PEACOCKS lololol

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

ok I LOVED LOVED LOVED both halls..

the problem is.. at Westbury Manor I had too many people for the small room and too few people for the big one

The watermill was just a very far drive for most of our guests..

Westbury Manor is amazing. .and the grounds are so beautiful.. the Watermill has a more impressive entrance when you walk in.

I would vote Westbury Manor though!

I've been to both. We almost booked Watermill, but went to check out a couple more places and fell in love with HWC. I went to check out Westbury Manor(love the peacocks)with my friend and although it was very pretty, did not have a good experience. I think we were shown one room. There was something going on in every single room of the place and I didn't like that.

I've been to parties at the Watermill, and I'm getting married the the Westbury Manor. Both are very nice, but I love the gardens at the Westbury manor. It really depends on how important the grounds of the RH are to you b/c the Watermill is beautiful inside, but it doesn't have a lot of outside area.

I love the Watermill! There is Plenty of room outside. Everyone had a seat during the cocktail hour and the food was fantasic. The grounds are beautiful and the pictures came out great.

I've been to events at both (Watermill- probably about 15 different events- I live in Smithtown, so every HS Dinner or award something or other was there. ) WM i've only been to once, but had a great experience. Both locations are good with service and food...... I am partial to WM just because of the Gardens. The CH room is cramped if you can't go outside, but if its a nice day....its GORGEOUS!!! BEWARE though....when FH and I went to look at the hall for our wedding, the BM walked us right through the middle of a wedding (I was in jeans, FH was in cargo pants and we were literally 'on the dance floor about 15' from the bride'). That turned us off completely..... We didn't look at the watermill but that is only because i've been there for EVERYTHING....I wanted something new for my wedding. However, I had a wedding at the watermill last April...and it was THE BEST waitress service I have EVER had at ANY wedding i've been to..... And we go to ALOT of weddings!!

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

i've also looked at westbury manor and was taken through an event.. one time through a cocktail hour and another time through a bar mitzhah (sp) which i totally didn't like.. (but the same thing sort of happenet at jericho terrace..) why don't bm understand that that is NOT cool....

if i had my wedding at either of those palces i'd be spending my day checking the door to make sure no one is with the BM peeking in...

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

I find that SO hard to believe that WM allowed anyone to walk through an event

I went there literally 3 months before my wedding and BEGGED then to allow me to at least peak in the Garden room so i would know what it looked like set up for a wedding and the very kindy REFUSED...I didnt even get passed the lobby....

I too am bias b/c I got married at WM but I have never been to Watermill....a co-worker of my sister is getting married there this year and she is having a VERY big wedding so I think if you Watermill may be a better choice for a larger wedding but if you truly want something intimate then WM is the way to go.

Good luck!!!

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

its true, i was walked into a wedding while it was going on i was like 3 feet away from the bride, i was in jeans, and pushing my mom in a wheel chair so everyone was looking at us, I felt like the rudest person!! I will be making sure to ask that they don't do this at my wedding, but I'm sure it won't make a difference.

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

u prob won't believe it till u see someone peeking into you'r wedding.. it was just the cocktail hour.. so i guess the bm didn't mind.. they were outside so she took outside and we stood on the side to watch.. (that's where i first saw the peacock...beautiful!!)

then we went inside to the bar mitzhah's party and she showed me how they block off the bar/restaurant to the library with the black curtain and on the other side they have the carving station.. but the outside room has two entrances so she walked us aronud so we can see how much room it was.. LOADS OF ROOM!! but yep.. they did it..

without a doubt Westbury Manor. In my thoughts, there is no competition!

Westbury Manor! But then I am biased!

Re: Westbury Manor vs. The Watermill

originally from pictures i wanted to book the watermill. when we went there the BM was so rude we just didnt want to talk to him anymore. but if we were guaranteed an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour i may have done the watermill, but if it rained, the cocktail hour would have been in the smaller reception room. i didnt like that. i wanted the cocktail room to look totally different from a reception room.

so when we went to WM, the BM was amazing! LOVE Mr. Mel! he even brought us food, when no other RH would! and their cocktail hour was held in the library and 2 additional rooms. we just had a better feel of the place. and they offered alot more food in the package.

I love the Watermill.....great food, great service, great everything! We checked out the WM and it was beautiful. I never went to an affair there, heard good thing about it.

When I walked into the Watermill, I knew it was the place....I just felt it. Which one makes you feel that way....that is how I would decide.
