Hi, I'm new to the board. Just looking for other Westbury Manor brides. I'm SO stoked about this place...I dropped off another payment on Saturday and as i'm sitting there waiting for one of the Managers to come meet me, I look around and almost start crying because it's so beautiful. I'm such a wuss. LOL
Anyway, i'm trying to come up with some decorating ideas for the Manor room (afternoon wedding) but I wanted the opinion of you girls out there who are either having or have had their wedding there. I'm thinking of blocking the windows (people are more likely to dance when they think no one can see them) and doing some sort of effect lighting with light blues and white. One of their vendors is Party Sensation but I don't know if i'm too crazy about what I see on their website.
Also, it's a snowflake theme (hence the pale blues, whites, and shimmery colors) so any decorating/lighting/centerpiece ideas would be most appreciated. I've already seen a picture of the snowflake wedding cake I want. It's GOOOOOORGEOUS (look in Wedding Cakes Magazines...the latest issue is in bookstores!). The only problem is i'm a pastry chef so I feel sorry for the poor soul who's doing my cake. LOL
Like I said, any room set up/decoration ideas would be great. I'll start buggin you all later for other vendor ideas. :) Oh yeah, and SOMEONE tell me where to start and what to do next because I have NO idea what i'm doing. LOL
Thanks very much! Jess

Re: Westbury Manor/Snowflake Theme 1/20/08
I was just looking at a hole bunch of sites for winter weddings since my sister might have to change her date. I was looking mostly at cakes though. I also found a website: www.maribellecakerycincinnati.com She had alot of winter cakes. I'm also getting married at the Westbury Manor in September of 2008. I will see what I can find for you and let you know. I have seen people dangle snowflakes (plastic / sparkled / crystal) from the ceilings to really create that feel of snow and it does look beautiful with the right lighting.
Here's another idea since you mentioned pale blues. An idea : have you ever been to a christmas outlet store. Sometimes they carry small to very large fake spruce trees with snow and pinecones one them. That could really set the mood if they are placed in the room or on a couple of tables.
I have seen party sensations work... more than one affair.... they are amazing .. trust me!!! The website does not do the justice.... go in and talk to her... Daphne......I think you will be impressed.
Thanks so much! I'll have to meet with them then!
And I love the snowflake theme, I think it will look amazing in the manor room! I would've wanted to do that too if I were getting married in the winter!

I actually wanted to do something like that too... with the lighting effect on the curtains over the wall with hues of pink and light purple, and I agree that I wasn't as impressed with Party Sensation's website... is there anyone else that can do that?
Yeah do a search under lighting. I found sooo many places on Google and on here under vendors that do nice lighting jobs.
Thanks! I'll try that too!

I had searched the board for reviews on them and saw alot of bad things... that really scares me because I was going to use them! A lot of people have stories about them raising prices on invitations and not telling them, and I saw one where they screwed up her flowers! I heard great things about their decor though, so I might just use them for that and use a seperate florist...

Yes I read the reviews on Party Sensation too. If I can find another decorator that has experience with the WBManor, then I might consider them instead.
Everyone has such BEAUTIFUL suggestions though!!!

Party Sensations has bad reviews, really???? I wanted to use them to add a little light and to set up tulle with light in them to hang on the ceiling. Should I use them now? What are the bad reviews about? I will do a look up.

I've read 'iffy' things from some of the girls' posts. I want to meet with Get In Tune DJ because apparently they do lighting shows too. I'm still new at this, I don't know where/how to find a decorator. LOL

Go to the Vendors tab on the top of this page and click under lighting, there is this company that does that or just google it and you will find many places
