After some long weeks, we've decided to put the wedding plans on hold. Our living situation has changed and need to put money aside for a new house. House 1st, wedding 2nd. A little backwards, but it's how it has to be for us. Soooo With that, I still enjoy this site and will be popping up here and there to answer the QOTD and of course the Weekly Wednesday Weigh In lol
We still plan on a fall 2011 wedding. Just not sure where or how. Maybe at our new house!

I totally understand. We did the same thing had a very small wedding 2007, but Became home owners in 2006 first. Now were planning our dream wedding !
I couldnt see shelling $30k on a wedding and not having a home to come too or going into an apt when all that money could have gone toward a purchase of our house. Mean while i understand too that Every one is different so you just have to do what is comfortable for you both- much luck to you..

I do understand. We were getting married Nov 29, 2008, but we need a place to live. So instead we brought the house in October 2008 and decide on Nov 27, 2010 to save up money for the wedding. Yes, we could have had a big over the top wedding, but when the wedding was over we would have been homeless. You are doing what is best for you. If you decide not to get marry in the fall 2011, but later in 2012; it okay you did what is best for your family. You will still have a beautiful wedding.

That's not backward!! FH and I just bought a house 3 weeks ago! We did it to have our own place and save for the wedding. You can always research, especially when you get tired of home stuff. (but who gets tired of that!?!)

you, me and just about 1/2 the brides on this board so don't feel bad!
FH & I bought a house back in 2008. Everyone (parents included) said why not get married first. It was more important to us to buy our house and share that together than to shell out $30K for a wedding. We got engaged this past May; and are looking to get marriend Fall 2011. We are far from rich so we need time to save and plan a nice; yet inexpensive wedding.
