whaa! need my veneers replaced!!!

my front two teeth are veneers due to grinding and sports chipping and cracking..well its time to replace them bc they are old...and the other teeth next to them now need veneers bc of fractures... well heck's bells... my dentist charges 4k!! 1k per tooth!!

I KNOW THAT IF I DO THIS i should do it before the wedding so my teeth look norma((i am very self conscious about my teeth and smiling bc some of them are in serious need of help)l... yet bc I AM GETTING MARRIED i cant afford 4 k for my freaking teeth.

does anyone have fabulous veneers and have payed less that 1k per tooth???

its sooo not the end of the world..but kinda having mini nightmares about my now old veneers breaking off before the wedding since they are overdue for replacement.
whaaa!!

Re: whaa! need my veneers replaced!!!

sorry to hear that. They can be expensive. Were they done originally for a medical problem? Were they originally covered by insurance?

I have them too for about 15 years now and I'm thinking about replacing them. I don't know how much my dentist charges, but way back when they were $500/tooth.

hi!!!!

veneers are NEVER covered by insurance... they always think they are cosmetic.....even if you break your teeth in an accident... doesnt that stink?? lol

how many do you have?

Hi,

I actually had my 6 front teeth done before my wedding and it was the BEST decision I ever made! You have a few options.....

You can apply for a Care Credit card. It's a line of credit and you get a little credit card and it's usually 1 year interest free. That's what I did, my teeth cost with whitening, $5600. That's less than $1000 per tooth.

Next, you can apply to become part of Ameriplan, it's not insurance, it's a discount plan which can be used toward some cosmetic procedures, veneers included.

I went to Dr. Joseph LaCarrubba in Stony Brook, and even though I live in Nassau county, it was totally worth the trips out there. My teeth look fabulous!!!!! Seriously, I am not kidding!

Dr. Joe accepts Ameriplan (I can help you get set with a person to sign you up, it's 12 bucks a month and then you can cancel it) and they gave me the application for the credit.

So I put down $600 initially, then after the wedding I took 2K from our gifts and put that towards it and I pay $200 a month until September....DONE!

FM if you want more info....

I like cutiegirl's ideas. I wouldn't mess around with cheap dentists. If you have a dentist you trust you should stick with him. When my dentist retired I went to an inexpensive dentist and she did a number on my teeth. She did unnecessary fillings, she even cracked a tooth and didn't tell me about it. Then she did a root canal on my tooth because I was in so much pain. After that nightmare I found a great dentist that was recommended by a friend of mine. This dentist is very expensive about 4-5 times more than the bad dentist but in my mind its worth it. You're teeth are very important and I think paying the extra money is worth it to take care of them. Good Luck, I hope your veneers turn out great!!

I had 6 done for about 3K last summer. My insurance didn't pay but they wouldn't let her charge more than that either.

Dr. Joe is by far the best. He's in Stony Brook. Call him!!!!

Tell him Gina sent you, I think his # is 631-751-7171.

The best nonvendor 'vendor' I used.

Re: whaa! need my veneers replaced!!!

gigles i think it depends... some say 5-10yrs.
one of mine is around 10 yrs old if not more..the other one... had broken and i had it redone 7 yrs ago... but both are kinda receding and i can literally tell i need new ones even before my dentist mentioned it.
you may want to ask your dentist hwo yours are holding up :)
