a car near my apartment was destroyed. a HUGE limb of a tree went through the windshield and out the drivers side window.
I feel bad for the person who owns that car

I just had heavy rain and wind. By the time it was over early this morning, there were just alot of leaves and a few tree branches on the ground.

the wind was banging something against my window so much it woke me up at 4 am this morning!
But other than that, just a big deal over nothing, thankfully!

Sheesh I live 1 block from the water in Brooklyn and the worst that happened was a few extra branches fell of the tree in front of my house.

I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a big deal. I laughed when I heard that supermarkets were packed and that batteries and flashlights were sold out. People tend to panic too quickly. We had a lot of tree limbs down this morning but I didn't even hear the wind/rain (we had the air conditioner on low) and I slept quite well.

Yep.. this thing was funny. I never thought it'd be bad..maybe some rain and wind.. A few trees knocked over in our area, but most people were too frightened to be outside. I always thought it was foolish to go wandering out in torrential rains and wind to 'play with nature' then cry foul when injuried. We got in around 7ish.. it was not even windy yet. I slept aright.. my window faces the alley so it was a bit loud. All this to do about nothing!
And im GLAD it was nothing!! I just keep wondering how many people are out there looking at their brand new generators thinking 'Next time.. '

My boss just called to tell me to call Allstate... his wife was driving and a tree fell on her car! Went right through the windshield, she is ok, but the car is totalled.
The wind is still pretty strong out there, with all the leaves still on the trees and the soft ground, trees are coming up pretty easily.

Rebecca, same thing happened to me, 4 a.m. a tree kept banging against the house & woke me up. I kept hoping school would be closed....no such luck.
A huge tree fell on the next block smashing someone's poor car. Lots of branches down, wind, but that is all.
Yet that poor police detective that lost his life in Long Beach :( Poor judgment on swimming, but....how sad.
