Re: What about the brides.....
2 words: wedding insurance.
although, I paid $500 for it and didn't need a single thing from it. But, we got it because our ceremony was in NJ and our reception in NY. And, I don't know if you all remember when those drunk frat boys climbed up the George Washington Bridge? Well, the bridge was closed ALL DAY. So, I thought...'what if that happens on my wedding day? I better get insurance!'
But, everything was fine!

My mother babysits for the band I am using...Mylos Ent. and they called my mom up today telling her that the wedding that was originally cancelled is back on. So I know there's one going on at Fox Hollow tonight for sure.

Re: What about the brides.....
I wondered that myself. FH brought it up yesterday as we were driving to the florist. He said a day like today or yesterday is so unfair to people getting married because people will probably show up but leave early and others wont show at all. You have to worry about vendors not being able to make it through the snow, etc. I feel so bad I wish we could all do something for them

Yup, get insurance ladies because you never know. If there's another blackout, a strike, whatever that's beyond control at least you're protected. Insurance usually covers your deposits as well as any service losses. But when I was booking halls and vendors I made sure to ask 'what ifs' and the majority of vendors (including halls) said that they would postpone for a later date at no additional cost for something that happened beyond our control (weather, act of God, terrorism...you never know). I hope the ladies from this weekend had insurance or at least alternatives.

i guess it all depends how really bad it is outside and if the hall gives refunds for weather situations like this.

Re: What about the brides.....
I just booked Fox Hollow yesterday. The manager said that in the event of snow,we could either choose to have the wedding or postpone it. It would then be held on the next available date. I hope this doesn't happen to me! And we are definitely looking in to wedding insurance.
