What about the Westbury area?

Anyone have info on Westbury specifically the New Cassel area? I found an affordable house and I'm suspicious! Thanks!

I'm sorry to say that the New Cassel area has a pretty terrible reputation. I'd stay away.

I heard Levittown wasn't such a hot area either. I've only driven through Levittown around Hempstead Turnpike and it didn't look very nice, but I'm not familiar at all with the area. Thanks for the tip! I'll have to do a little research!

excuse me..i live in levittown as well as my whole family and many girls on this site. levittown is a fabulous area. hard working people, good schools and very safe. i dont know where you are from egtting off saying that. i normally dont get invoved in stuff liek this, but you really ticked me off. if you dont live there/here, then how can you judge it?

I clearly stated I didn't know anything about the area and that I would do some research. Relax!

well be careful with your wording. when you start off with 'i heard levittown isnt such a hot area either...' you may offend some people. think if someone said that abut where you and your family lived. and moreso because you dont know it, you shouldnt say that.

Why are you being so hard on her? I don't think her statement was judgemental at all. She never said the town was bad. She only stated what she had heard.

The reason why she posted was for feedback & opinions. If you feel she has been misinformed, then give her your opinion, but don't get angry at her for stating what she heard from someone else.

im not on here to start drama. maybe she misread mine. i said excuse me, not yelling excuse, just excuse me. but i think its sometimes distasteful to comment on things that you clearly dont know. i am all about people having opinions. but honestly, usually you dont start off with how you hear its not such a great place to live. if she lived there and had her own experience...then more power to her. but she actually said shes just driven through, on a major road no less. i dont know. if she has the right to her own opinion, then so do i. and i think it was not appropriate. especially since there are so many girls here who live here and can give an honest opinion.

I agree. The statement 'where do you get off' threw me...that wasn't very nice.

Well if that was the case then anyone's opinion about an area they don't specifically live in or have lived in wouldn't be valid. Just because you don't have first hand experience in the area does not mean you can't have an informed opinion based on news reportings, word of mouth, etc.

And hey, I don't have a problem with Levittown but you have to admit, there are some areas of Hempstead Turnpike that look a little trashy (like the poster pointed out).

ok, lets clear this up ladies. im never one to start or be involved with drama here. so id like to put an end to this. NP...sorry if I came down too hard on you. i just felt personally insulted. this is my home town and to hear someone say negative things about it is hurtful, im sure to others as well. as for everyone else, i respect that you are sticking up for NP, but i am sure a lot of people would feel a bit offended if someone said your hometown was 'not such a hot area' lets put this to rest. sorry for those i came across b$$chy to.

Well, Hemptead Turnpike (the part that goes through Levittown, anyway) is all strip malls and shopping centers. IMO there's nothing about it that looks sketchy or run down or unsafe at all. I think Dani is fed up with the Levittown-bashing that occasionally happens on this board, and being from Levittown myself, I can understand. I had a great childhood there, and I'd move back if my commute wouldn't be miserable. All the houses near my parents' are very well maintained, there's not a car propped up on cinderblocks anywhere to be seen!

Well, since this started out as a Westbury thread let me give you some info since I grew up there.

Houses south of Old Country road are nice and they are in the East Meadow school district, usually they call this area the Salisbury area, just so you know when you are looking.

Parts of Westbury off Jericho Turnpike are in the Jericho school district.

And houses in Westbury west of Ellison Avenue are in the Carle Place school district.

It is a HUGE town with lots around it. there are some beautiful houses in the village but they are in the Westbury school district(not so nice). Good Luck with your search
