What advice would you give...

What advice would you give...

To Future Brides or Current brides about planning that no one warned you or told you about beforehand that would be helpful.. I find myself thinking about this.. so i thought it would be fun for us to share each others 'knowledge'

My advice (so far)
--When you book the RH or vendors go with your gut extinct of what you love and don't love definately!! But make sure when doing this your getting the most for your $$ and that your not all wrapped up in what your getting sold
--No matter how wonderful the people in your life are..people do get offended when it comes to weddings.. so be prepared!!!
--You can find beautiful wedding gowns at all prices!

..Thats all I can think of right now.. I'm sure I have more to add later

hmm .. probably not to settle for what you first see, chances are that if you keeping looking, you will find exactly what you want for a cheaper price and this will help you stay within budget

Don't get overwhelmed... take it one day at a time...one vendor at a time. Budget your money well, and create a savings plan... things add up verrry quickly. And, don't forget why you are doing all this planning in the first place...

I would tell future brides to do a little research and not hop on the first vendor they meet with or the first vendor their RH tells them to use (unless, of course, instinct tells them the first vendor is the right vendor for them). But prices vary greatly and (so does service) and if I would have booked the first vendors I met with I probably would have made some bad choices.

My biggest thing is that I don't let people talk me out of or into anything, FH and I are doing our wedding OUR way, i'm not getting wrapped up in what is proper and expected, we are dong what feels right for us and inviting only those that we want to shae this experience with

i know a lot of girls who choose their bridal parties immediately and then regret it, especially for those who have long engagements. so my advice would be to hold off on choosing your wedding party.

Wedding planning is supposed to be fun not stressful! Just enjoy what you are doing it only happens once

ETA: You definitely see a different side of people.

I would want to tell them that enjoy every minute of wedding planning, do it your and FHs way, dont let family/friends plan your wedding FOR you. It is about the two of you, not whatever one else has a vision of your wedding be. And to be prepared, family and friends true colors show during this time.

I would have to say to wait as soon as possible to send out your STD's. Things can change in a years time and you may not be talking to some of the people by the time your wedding rolls around.

Pick out the things that are most important to you and then you can cut corners with the things that aren't as special to you.

DO NOT listen to all the negative little comments every one has about wedding planning...It is a day to celebrate the love you and FH share!

Just because your 'favorite aunt' offers her help for free, you don't have to take it. You may not agree with her taste and it may be hard to decline initially but it'll be harder to 'fire' her once she gets started.
