Re: What an ugly day! Anyone have DIY projects to share?

my mom taught me how to make fabric covered photo albums....we give them as wedding gifts sometimes

buy a photo album batting and a pretty fabric(we use whote satin for wedding albums)

measure and cut the batting to fit all around the outside of the album cover

using spray adhesive, glu eit down so now you have a puffy album

lay out your fabric, - starting on one side, spray the batting, and glue the fabric down from the inside spine when that dries, pull it kinda taught and glue around to the outside of the same side

do it to the other side but start with the outside cover then glue to the inside spine

like wrapping a gift, fold the corners and glue them down

then ytou can design the outside with appliques, sequins and such to your liking

these can also be used for other purposes as well like b-day's

NWR: but keeps kids busy

Gak Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup white glue
food coloring, your choice of color (optional: coloring can stain!)
1 cup liquid starch
Pour glue and coloring in plastic container.

Stir until color is thoroughly mixed in.

Add starch a little at a time, stirring with a spoon or kneading with your fingers as mixture thickens.

Keep stirring until mixture holds together like putty.

Test with your fingers: if too sticky, add more starch in small amounts until mass is smooth and rubbery.

Martha Stewart Living has these cool votives covered in ribbon- they look really cool. I am thinking of doing that to tie them into my centerpiece(this DIY project keeps growing and growing)!
