i've always found the ny times useful. also it's always good to find industry specific websites, for instance i want to be a librarian so i go to the american library assoc. webiste and the society of american archivists.

I LOVED www.flipdog.com, and I second the industry-specific sites. I also like the Times and CareerBuilder (Newsday's job search engine), but you get lots of headhunters that way.

I tend to use more industry specific sites or go directly to company's websites (which is how I found my current job)

www.job.com
www.allstarjobs.com
www.careerbuilder.com

But if you are interested in a specific industry, check to see if there is an organization for the industry. Run a google search.
Some companies also only post their open jobs on THEIR website so if you know what type of companies you want to work for...check their HR page. Some companies don't want to spend the money to post on places like Monster. It costs my company $3K to buy a package with them for only 15 job postings.
