what are petal cones for?

I had never heard of them before this site - do people throw the petals in them the way people used to throw rice or are they just decoration?

I feel so silly for asking, but I'm dying to know

Yep. thats correct. You fill them up with rose petals, hand one to each guest..and they throw the petals as you leave the ceremony. Not a silly question...a year ago, I didnt know what they were either
