What are you allergic to?

I was allergic to nothing and then I started becoming allergic to everything...including:

the heat
humidity
pool water
chlorine
the sun

The cause? The BCP...so I got off it. And now I'm normal again!!

Sure, it was Ortho Tri-Cyclen and then Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. But actually, ALL BCP's cause sensitivity to the sun. In addition to increase risk of blood clots and every other crap. I hate them!! I rather take my chances with alternate methods but never again will I take hormones!

MOSQUITOS!

They are the devil! If I get bit, I instantly swell up HUGE! I have to wear pants and long shirts in the summer to cover up my body at BBQ's!

One time we went to ocean bay park, and I got bit on the forehead! I didn't have anything to put on it, so I walked to all the bars with a huge swollen forehead!

I'm actually allergic to so many things that allergy shots wouldn;t even be worth it, because instead of being relaly allergic to one or two things, I'm a little allergic to dozens of things!

to name a few:
cat, dog, horse, rabbit, other dander
mold, dust, tree pollen, grass pollen, flower pollen
strawberries, citrus fruits, milk, chocolate, tomatos, peanuts, shellfish, MSG, wood (saw dust KILLS me)... it goes on and on

Nothing!

I too was never allergic to anything as a child. Then it started with Cats...which was fine since I am a dog person...After being rushed to the hospital from Universal City Walk while in my skimpy dress and my face was a puff-ball, I got checked out:
I am now allergic to
Cats
Dogs
All kinds of Pollen
Trees
Dust
Mold
String Beans
Grass
Timothy Hay--which is what my guinea pigs eat
Kiwi
String Beans
Lobster---my favorite!
oh and recently...I think Bananas!!!
I HATE GETTING OLDER!!
I now take Zyrtek every day

DAIRY!!!

even though I'm vegan - I'll know when something has dairy in it that I wasn't told about!!!

it didnt develop until i was in ym 20's, but i'm allergic to pollen in the springtime.
ans i'm guessing i'm allergic to bananas because everytime i eat one, or a little bite of one, my stomach wants to kill me

I thought I was the only one that this happened to with bananas. I miss being able to eat them.

there aren't many of us! Every now and then I crave one.....but I remind myself of the terrible pain and the craving goes away

I am allergic to grapefruit which I dont like anyway, but I am not allergic to other citrus fruits which is very strange! I also have a bad reaction not to my dog herself, but all the pollen and environmental stuff she brings in from laying in the yard! When she gets a bath I can pet her all I want and I have no problem, so I am pretty sure that its not her Im allergic to. (She is a shih tzu, so they are hypoallergenic dogs anyway)

I have my own theory on allergy testing: It seems that everyone who goes for the allergy testing shows up allergic to everything they test for even if they have had it in the past and had no major problem. I personally think that there is something in the test that can cause a sensitivity that makes it seem like an allergy to that thing. I mean really, who goes for the testing and only shows an allergy to one or two things? Its usually everything.

Another thing: I see a lot with kids especially, that the parents think that they are allergic to everything. I really have a hard time believing that many of these kids are allergic to almost all fruits and veggies, all types of wheat and that stuff, plus most antibiotics. If it gives the child a bellyache then the parents think its an allergy. Did you know any kids that were allergic to all this stuff when we were growing up? Not really.

that's about it for now. i do wish i wasn't allergic to all of the above.. the cat thign.. doesn't bother me that much but doggies are so adorable! instead i have a bird which is okay i guess.. = /

Well....in my case you're wrong. I recently had a whole bleep load of test and I did NOT test positive for everything. I tested positive for things that have given my problems before.
Round one out of the 36 things they tested for I was allergic to 6 or 7 things.
Round two - foods...out of the 36 things they tested for I was allergic to none. (Figures! )
Then the other round of tests was more of shots to confirm more stands of mold & weeds.
We didn't do the chemical tests...not sure why.

But anyway...my point is allergy tests work.

I didnt mean that everyone who has allergy testing tests positive for everything, but a good many people do from what I have seen. I have seen a good # of people test positive for everything they tested yet they dont take any allergy medication on a daily basis or even frequently. It just doesnt make sense that someone tests positive for like 30 environmental allergies, takes no medication, and hasnt had any problems with hay fever. This is one of the reason in some cases that I doubt the accuracy of the testing in some people, not all.

In your case it makes sense that you tested positive for things that you have had a problem with before. That is the way the test is supposed to work.
