What are you doing to make your wedding DIFFERENT!

hey girls!
I'm trying to think of cool/different ideas that will differentiate my wedding from others... wanted to see what other brides had planned!!

I guess to put our own 'stamp' on the wedding FH and I have decided that we are going to have a cheesecake wedding cake covered in a smooth chocolate ganache layer. He loves chocolate and I love cheesecake so we just put it together. Also, we are not doing traditional favors, we are doing donation favors. We wanted to spend the money on something that would actually make a difference in someones life. A wedding leaves a larger carbon footprint than most people will leave the rest of their life and we wanted to give back a little by helping someone out. We are giving to the cystic fibrosis foundation because FH's nephew carries the gene and they don't know if he will get sick yet. Um....oh also we are walking out into the reception to a rock song since we both love rock music (we are most likely using Disturbed's 'Down with the sickness') I am also getting married at the RH because I firmly believe that god is everywhere and it doesn't matter where you get married as long as the vows that are stated are a true reflection of how both the bride and groom feel, I am using peacock feathers in my decor because its a very reagal feeling feather and its beautiful, I am using carnations as our wedding flower because it is one of the oldest flowers every used in celebrations and it has a 2,000 year old history rich and interesting dating back to the virgin mary and i am a history buff so that is why i chose it....umm i think that's it for me haha

Hmmm wow. so I'm doing a very classic, timeless and elegant style... but with a slight punk flair... because that's kinda how I am. Also because I'm all Irish and FH is a little bit we are having bagpipers at the church and the reception... for our main entrance. we are walking into a dropkick murphys song called black velvet band (which is and ooooold irish song remade into a punk song) but with 2 live bagpipers and a drummer.
we are doing a winter theme. Summertime is just too hot for us. plus I get mean in the heat... i just hate to sweat! royal blue, white and silver are our colors. Like 10 minutes after FH proposed... the color royal blue just popped into my head. i didnt really think of it before that.
red velvet cake... we are huge fans of red velvet!!!
bora bora and moorea... this hm was my dream from when i was like 13 years old and FH really wanted to go too!! Once I taught him about it! haha!
a trolley instead of limos or a party bus. i like to do different things that people dont see as often. plus IMHO I think limos are uncomfortable to sit in. Esp as a female all dressed up. Hmm what else is there? Oh cocoa cones for a favor (which I'm going to DIY) and single roses left in their car with a thank you tag thats also dual purpose bc we will have those photo cards on them too...you know those ones that say upload pics to blah blah blah. And a photobooth for our drunk a$$ friends to take stupid pics in and to double as our guest book. i loved the idea of having a photo guestbook bc i really think its so helpful to make me remember everyone that was there and just the night in general.
we are having an ice luge... because when my friends and i were younger and had parties... we had ice luges and did shots off them. also jello shots are a huge possibility...whenever theres a party i try to make jello shots to serve or bring. i actually have some in my fridge now!!!!
hmm..... what else?? i think thats all i got for now.

just think of the things you like most and incorporate them into your wedding somehow. thats what really makes your wedding you!!

This was a topic on the 2010 board the other day, so I'm just copying and pasting my answer here

- It's vegetarian, which I know some people will freak about but it's because of our compassionate beliefs and the menu we've outlined so far with the RH flippin' ROCKS - no one will miss meat for this one meal!

- We're having Irish, Bengali and American customs throughout the day. I'll wear a typical white gown for the legal ceremony and then change into an Indian bridal lehnga before the reception, where we will have an imam perform a Muslim wedding ceremony for us (Muslim men can marry Christian or Jewish women). As for the Irish part: we'll most likely do a Celtic handfasting ceremony. Oh and I'll be getting henna done as well.

- The music will be everything from Pearl Jam and The Cure (our two faves) to Bollywood stuff to country - my parents are big country fans so we're going to have a couple of line dances going for them and their friends.

It sounds like a freakin' circus but hey...it's US!

We are using the Sugar Chic. He website is amazing! I looked at a lot of different site and I think she had the closest things to what I wanted. I will post pics and a review after the wedding.

I'm having Venetian Masks incorporated in to my decor, and having kind of a European/Venetian Old World Holiday Carnivale feel with my CPs and colors and decor. Lots of deep rich burgundies, golds, ivories, candles, not traditional flowery CPs. Incorporating my linguistic background by having the table names be love in foreign languages. Also having a cheesecake bar for dessert. Painting my nails and toenails very deep Burgundy almost black...just really trying to pull off a dark, mysterious, yet elegant event.

FH insists on having an Incredible Hulk ice sculpture......in green ice

He actually asked the our banquet manager about it and she said as long as he brings in a picture they can probably do it. So he went and bought a poster..........

My wedding colors are red, black, white and silver, and he wants a GREEN ice sculpture

Hmmm, lets see...

I am making fan wedding programs. I know that isn't too original on LIW, but I doubt anyone attending the wedding will have seen it before.

We are using wine corks as placecard holders (wine/vineyard theme) and using names of wine as our table numbers.

We are using a mini-wine barrel as our cardbox. I absolutely lovvvve it!!!!

I am walking down the aisle to 'Con te Partiro' since FH is italian. It's a beautiful song!

We are having a unity wine ceremony, instead of the traditional unity candle. During the wine ceremony, the bride pours white wine into an empty carafe, while the groom pours the red wine into the same carafe, creating a blush wine. Then, they pour the blush wine into a glass and drink it. It is suppose to symbolize two lives coming together as one. We are going to use FH's parents homemade wine to make it even more personal.

We were able to get our reception hall to make some ethnic dishes that is going to blow my side of the family away!!!
