sooo me & FH feel really strongly about not inviting ppl with a guest unless we are friends with their sig. others, married, or in the BP - mostly b/c of space and money issues i think were sticking to this rule
what is everyone else doing??

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
I did a posting on this a couple days ago.... I came up with (and this is just me) that if the person is 18-20 and under and i KNOW they arent with someone and that they know friends and/or family, then they prob wont get an 'and guest'. Some people i know already told me they are not bringing anyone so i got lucky with that. I dont see anything wrong with it just as long as the person knowns people there and isnt uncomfertable.

we are inviting with guest if they have a SO, otherwise-inviting as a single.
we know the old people wont bring a guest and we know our frinde SOs. Also, we dont have a space problem...just financial.
IMO- if they have a SO, even if you dont know them but your guest has been w/ them for awhile- i would invite them (and pray they dont come)
I would definitely draw the line at your friends BF she just met at a club 2 weeks ago an dppl like that.

yeah that is our plan - the ppl who arent getting an 'and guest' are being sat with other ppl they know and get along with

and thats fine. I mean your just crossing out the guests for people who notoriousley dating people. If the person has been with their other for a while you cant cross them out, that you have to suck up.

We are doing, anyone who is over 18 is invited with a guest.
I have been to weddings when I was younger and wasn't invited with a guest b/c I wasn't in a serious relationship and it bothered me so I vowed not to do it at my wedding. IMO if you are an adult than you should be invited with a guest

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
Im not inviting any of my cousins with a guest unless theyre married or living with that person. Ive been having issues with this cause I have people telling me 'The right thing to do' would be to invite everyone with a guest and that really irks me cause they act like Im intentionally NOT trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, my budget doesnt allow 'the right thing to do'. Would the right thing to do be not to invite people I would REALLY want there so my cousin could bring her newest fling? Sorry I got carried away! Its just a touchy subject cause Im so tired of the politics that go with inviting guests...

My friend didnt invite everyone with a guest and you know what the people who said something about it were the ones who had the best time!

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
when FH and I first started dating, my cousins wedding was all messed up because of my aunt...well....I wasn't invited with a guest, neither was anyone else.....and we were all pretty miserable. It definetely ****** a lot of fun out of that wedding. I pretty much got loaded with my cousins to the point that I had to call it quits early and sleep in my dads car lol....yup...my parents were my date. If the person is in a serious relationship, they SHOULD be invited with a guest. It doesn't matter if you know them or not. Who wants to sit out because they don't have anyone to dance with?? It's even more ackward for 'Friends' and coworkers because it's not like they have family to mingle with. JMO. I understand you have space and $$ constraints, but i'd consider being more selective with who you invite, like narrowing down your list...not excluding a persons SO.

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
Its hard to narrow down a list when you have 75 family members on one side. And I speak to 70 of my family members on a regular basis so its not like I can exclude anyone. FH is the one who has to sacrifice his list because my family is so large. It wouldnt be right to invite all 20-something of my cousins with a guest when he cant invite some important people in his life. Its just a lose lose situation. And Im not really worried about people being bored. I have too many crazy family members for that too happen.

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
we're inviting friends who are in relationships (and we know their signif others) with dates. and all family (cousins etc.) with dates. I am not inviting all my single friends (like 4 of them) with dates b/c i don't think i should have to pay for them. i never brought a date to a wedding if i was single just for the hell of it, and i know they would. if people are going to be offended then don't come - i honestly don't care about offending anyone. FH and i both agree on this because we want a relatively small wedding and we both have large families.

i wouldnt put '& guest' on the invite if i didnt know the guest. i dont want my cousin bringing her best friend so they can hang out all night....if u are single get out there & mingle with the other single guests.

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
The majority of our friends are married or close to it. The only singles we really have are FHs cousins. Some are in serious relationships. I wanted to stick to only inviting the ones with long term significant others, but FHs family is kinda funny and gets offended easily. We were afraid that some would get upset. Particularly the ones whose siblings were invited with guests and they weren't. We opted to make it an age issue. No one under 18 is being invited with a guest.

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
Its a personal decision. At first, we weren't going to invite people with guests unless in a serious relationship, but it got tricky b/c I didn't know everyone's personal lives and felt funny asking about people if they were in 'serious relationships'. And also, what constitutes a 'serious relationship'.
Also, I know from my own experience, it can be uncomfortable and/or boring if you don't know anyone at the wedding. I really want my guests to have fun. So, to avoid this problem, everyone is getting a guest. It stinks b/c of $$$$, but I feel it is what we want to do.

Re: what are you girls doing about the 'and guest'
as of now, we are only inviting married couples and others in a long term relationship with a guest. Anyone else will be invited as a single. Money doesnt allow us to invite everyone with a guest. Also, we dont want people bringing random guests to the wedding.

That's something that we are trying to fiure out. I only wanted to invite 'and guest' if the person is in a serious relationship. I didn't want single people bringing some random person just to bring a guest. But, FH says we should invite and guest no matter what. I'm still not sure what to do

IM onlyinviting guests for married people or people that live togehter, have had the gf/bf for a longgg time...not just someone they are dating, i really cant afford it. if its a serious gf/bf then fine..but not to find a date for a wedding.
