I was using The knot budgeter but was just told that that is not accurate at all..does anyone have any numbers that they were given to work with for estimates on budgets?

Re: What are you girls doing for..
We kind of just did an estimate of what we think our RH is going to be total + a few extra thousand for vendors. We decided to save X amount of dollars a week and so far it has been PERFECT! The e-party will hopefully help out too & when we get closer, if we have to, we will save a little more each week!

Re: What are you girls doing for..
For budgeting purposes, and if I book the RH by the end of this month (hopefully sooner), I've been breaking everything down by our paychecks. We're paying as we go, so it's easier this way. We have 2 direct deposit accounts, one for the wedding, and we both have 250 going in every paycheck. When possible, i put a little more into it. It's been working out ok. Since June, we've managed to save the deposit for the RH, and another 2 payments. But I also know we both have bonuses coming and income tax so we have a little wiggle room for booking other vendors.
we sat down and figured out what we're going to spend on the vendors and set a max for almost everything. I can't seem to max the cost of my dress and accessories, but my mom is probably buying my stuff. My advice, do an excel spreadsheet. It's a must for me b/c I can track everything!!

Re: What are you girls doing for..
I started off with theknot.com budgetor. Then I wrote notes on the side which indicated what I did not think was correct (like the 2 wedding bands together would be $600). We are in the process of getting information off the boards and revising the budget to a more realistic one.

Same here. I also created an excel workbook on my own that takes into account the money we already have saved and the money we will have in the future.
Here is an example of percentages I found online on how you should be budgeting: (everyone changes theirs, but it's just a suggestion)
My FH is an accountant so i'm leaving that up to him...but at the same time, he doesnt care how much everything costs, he just wants the best wedding ever. So basically i made an ING account and am throwing money in that every week.
Its not a good plan, but we purposly set the date very far away so we could save as much as possible.

Re: What are you girls doing for..
I basically just gave everything a budget. I made everything higher then I think I will pay so I don’t go over. Our wedding rings are going to be $500 under budget!
I don’t think you can always go by the %'s they tell you on wedding planning sites. It really depends on what matters most to you. If you love music and want a band you going to need to put more of your budget on that. I think it is crazy to spend a lot on flowers so that is the first place I will make cuts when needed. People are telling me I need to spend $4,000 on flowers and I totally disagree.
I also have an ING account.. That’s how FH saved for my ring!

Re: What are you girls doing for..
We set a budget based on how much we could reasonably save over the course of the next 2 years. Then, I figured how many people we're going to have and broke it down from there. I wanted to make sure that I had enough for EVERYTHING, so I created multiple excel spreadsheets as well as a timetable as in to when I would need the money by. Then, to budget even better... lol I have been going to the Bridal Shows. There, I have been given estimates by just asking and avoiding appointments. They also have raffles, so I have won a lot of discounts on things I wouldn't otherwise have upgraded to. My FH and I are paying the whole thing ourselves, so every little thing I can do helps.
