We hired a DJ, but are now re-thinking... got a few quotes for bands, so I want to see what's the average cost... THANKS!!

Depends on how many pieces you have.
We are paying approximately $8k for 12 pieces. That includes a jazz trio at our cocktail hour.

We are paying $5,000 because we have a day wedding and our band is doing another wedding after ours. On a Saturday night it would be about $6,500. Its a 6 piece band. We are also having a dj as well.

I paid well under $4000 at the time, but they are about 4600 now..independent so no agent to pay. I also had a DJ but that's not included.

We are not having a band but I know a woman at work is planning a NJ wedding for next year and got a quote for $24K for the band. Her budget is $15K for the band though.
I have no idea who this band is or if they are famous but I thought $24K was ridiculous!!!

$4250.00 for 1 1/2 hour cocktail hour ( don't ask)
then a d.j. for the 4 1/2 hour reception

we are paying 250 for the CH and 5600 for a 5 hour reception (it was 5000 for the standard 4hrs).

That is way pricey. My fathers friend had his wedding at the Pierre Hotel. Im not sure of the bands name but I heard they paid $40,000. That is unbeleivable.

$5500 for string trio for ceremony, calypso trio for CH and 8 piece band for reception. We booked all of them through the same company so they cut us a deal.

10 pc band 4600 saturday afternoon - but we are the only ones they are doing they only do one a day so they dont rush that was a huge selling point for me Fantasia wedding Orchestra is what they are calling themselves now - when i hired them they were just fantasia - LOL

Mine is $3400 for 5 peices for 4 hours.
I am starting to think I got too good of a deal & that they will suck.
