Re: what are you using

I am using a real iron mailbox. FI's grandfather made the mailbox when he had his own metal shop many years ago. So my aunt took it and is going decorate it with tulle and ribbon. I thought it was a great idea for FI to have something of one of his grandparents at the wedding.

Hehe, well, here's the thing.....my mom has some cousins who apparently have a case of the 'sticky fingers', hehe, so I have to carry a bag then hand them off to my grandmother. From the stories I've heard, there were supposedly cards falling out from under a cousin's skirt at my aunt's wedding.......

I don't know what I'm doing. If you use a hat box, birdcage, etc. where do you put it? On its own table? That seems a little weird to me. At most of the weddings I've gone to the Bride and groom walk around to greet all the guests and that is when they get all their envelopes. I like the idea of using a box, but I am already going to have a table for our cake and a table for the groom's cake - where would I put the table for the envelopes?

You could have a small table set up behind or next yours...

I was thinking of making that picture frame box that someone posted the other day! It was so nice!!!

I am using this and keeping it on a cake table on the opposite side from the cake

I am going to do something from the inside so that the cake box can't easily be taken apart. Even if I didn't, I feel it would be so obvious to evryone around if someone were standing near the card box cake taking it apart to get inside (maybe I am too trusting . . .)

Re: what are you using

I made this for my sister's wedding next month...

Directions...
First I bought 4 8x10 frames and 8 metal 'L' fasteners. The first thing we did was put the pictures in and attach the frames at the top and bottom. I bought a square piece of decorative wood from Michaels and painted that black for the base. Hot glue the frames to the base. Then I cut a foam square to fit inside the top of the frames and cut the slit throught it for the cards. I cut a piece of cardboard the same size and cut a slit in that too. Glue the foam to the cardboard. Then cover the foam with material. This was completely trial and error. I covered it, then pulled excess through the slit so that it would cover the inside of the slit. I then cut that so that we could pull it back and tape underneath. You can either use a glue gun or clear duct tape. I took those plastic hooks (you can get them in target) and place them upside down on each of the backs of the 4 frames so that when you place the material covered foam in the box it doesn't fall in. You can modify this for whatever works for you! Good luck!

Re: what are you using

This is what I used at my e-party. It is a wedding cake that I made with silk rose petals...it is beautiful and I got so many compliments on it. I don't want to use it at the wedding also so I am probably going to use a bird cage or soethig that requires a lot less work!
