a freelance photographer. I found one that does nice work from what I can see on her website. I'm considering meeting with her but I'm nervous she does this full time now but she's a mom so I guess its her part time job. She seems nice on the phone but she's only had this business for 3 years now. Do you think it's risky??

I don't know. it might be. If you want to save money another idea is to do what I am doing and look for A La Carte pacakges like 12th night and Thomas Paul offer. You pay for the photography and they give you high res discs and then you can print photos elsewhere and make your own albums. Costs start a little under 2K. its worth checking out too.

Go ahead and meet anyway - what's the harm? If she's trying to build her business, she'll want to do an excellent job for you, espeically if you tell her you know a TON of brides (on here!) and are willing to give recommendations! You can always say no.

I would check it out. I mean there are plenty of companies that do work for years and then you hear stories of how they closed down before everyone got their pictures. I see hear too many stories like that... Just because she has only been working for 3 years doesn't mean that she will run away with your money. It is worth atleast a meeting I think. You can always say no!

Well if you can get samples of some stuff maybe it can be ok?
Just very nervous about the photography...it's all you have when the wedding is over!
With enough research it could be a great save~

I would be open and express my concern to the photographer. Especially if they are light in years of experience area. Even the most popular photographer at one point in time in there career started like this also.
Also ask for references.

She might be great and reliable.but its still risky! Do your research..best of luck!

This is the way that everyone starts off in a business. I don't think the fact that she is a mom should play a factor if she's risky (half of America is a working mom) Also, not being in the business long either. You can have a photography company that is well known and saturated and they can go under as well. JMO
I would meet with her anyway.
What is her name? Maybe someone on the board has used her and can give you feedback
