what are your thoughts on the west side stadium?

I live with a man who works for cablevision. SO im sure you all know whos side I am on.

The traffic situation will not be as bad as people claim. Remember they only play Football on Sundays.

Its not like they will be playing in the middle of rush hour.

Building the stadium means expanding the subway to it. Most sane people will just take public transportation.

what exactly will it do for LI except raise our taxes?
Some of us are trying to buy homes and with these increases it is getting more and more difficult to pay the mortgage let alone increases in our taxes..

That is one of the reasons I am for it! MSG doesn't have a monopoly on sport venues in NYC. We are the best and largest city in the country, we have NO football team or arena, two baseball stadiums that need major work/updates, and one lousy bball team.

I think the West Side should be developed with an expanded convention center and it should include a new football stadium. I don't think MSG should dictate what we can develop and what we cannot. I would like it if a bit more of the funding came from private investors, but I also think it would be great for the city. As for the traffic, sure there will be added congestion on a Sunday, but I think it will be more like Yankee stadium where a ton of people will take the trains in from NJ, CT, and NY and the subways.

traffic won tbe that bad and public transportation is better anyway.
anything i ever done in the city i've used subways,etc.... i only drove once in the city (east side of manhatten as soon as you get off the bridge - only went 1 block but it counts)

every other city ive been to has a real convention center (larger then jacob javits) is are able to host a variety of shows and trade events... that = money.

every other city ive been to has a real football stadium also. The garden is horrible. granted its a landmark, just as someone else said, these stadium in ny are old.

raises taxes is bad...i wish they had another solution to pay for it but in return, the city will bring in more money. i think i heard the olypmics alone will bring in 1 trillion dollors. i may be wrong about that though
