What aspects of the wedding did/are you skimpin on?

I've splurged on a few things but wanted to see where you guys saved a couple of bucks.

I'm thinking invitations, favors, veil?

Well luckily my uncle is a florist and he's doing our flowers as a gift to us, so we are saving there. And our dj plays at our company Christmas party so we save a couple of bucks there as well. The only thing I think and I've had people agree. Don't be cheap on pictures. Pictures are priceless!!! But be smart. Don't go crazy!!

I'm making my own invitations. I am doing the flowers myself. My mom will do my hair and makeup. A friend is taking the photographs. And I didn't spend a lot of money on my dress.

well, i also will skimp out on invites and favors. Maybe some extras like fancy placecards, menus etc! we will see. I splurge on most everything else already so I have no choice! Oh and my veil too!

i got my invites pretty cheap....50% off because my office has some agreement with a few vendors.
I got a deal on my DJ because the owner is a personal friend
I also am getting my ice carvings for free...because my sister and BIL own an ice sculpting business.

we skimped on programs, menus, placecards--i'm making all of these. we're not using a limo. i choose to spend more on a photographer than have video-video is not my thing. we invited however many people we wanted but kept the cost of the hall on the more reasonable side. i had my mother paint my aisle runner. i'm not doing church flowers-the chapel is stunning and doesn't need them. we are having a saber arch- no bubbles or anything like that.

I didn't really skimp.....

but my FMIL sells Carlson Craft invitations - she bought them

My cousin is an interfaith minister - she's marrying us no charge

My mom's best friend's daughter is a wedding photographer - got an awesome package deal there

My friend is a hair dresser - doing my hair and make-up for half the cost of the other places

And i got an awesome deal on flowers from a small-time florist!!

FH splurged on my ring - and my dress, veil and tiara are from ebay

I got my headpiece/comb for less than $20 and I was thrilled! My veil was under $50 and I made the programs and favors myself.

The biggest thing we cut down on was the guest list. We didn't have a big wedding which was VERY helpful. We only had 130 guests which was perfect.

I plan on spending less on favors, invites, flowers, and possibly skipping limos. I will use the savings for photo, hm, rings, and dress!

I was able to get good deals on such things as invitations, pastor (my friend's husband, free), makeup artist (my sister, free). The only thing I feel I really skimped on was my dress. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $$$$ for a dress so I bought a $400 dress at David's. Not my first choice in gowns but decision made - I'm going to stick with it!

I'm doing the invitations myself -- saving a few hundred that way. I bought my dress at netbride and saved 50%. I'm using a florist that works out of their house and getting beautiful flowers at a good price. Also, getting married in Feb. saved us money because Villa's gave us a lower rate. We had to skimp on this things because we are going overboard on the honeymoon!!

Skimped on (found for cheap):
Invitations, favors, veil, tiara

Things I'm not getting to save money:
limos, cake (my hall provides one), the 'extras' - bathroom basket, cry packs, placecards (my hall provides them), placecard holders, menus, programs, napkins, etc...

Splurged on:
Photo/video, DJ, wedding ring

I didn't spend a lot in invitations, at least I don't think I did. I did the envelopes myself with computer calligraphy.

Favors, I wrapped them myself. Places that charge you will be about $1 a piece. I bought wrapping paper online and figured out that it cost me about .20 per favor to wrap them.

Didn't do programs or menus, printed my own placecards.

Got my veil from Barrons, $40.

I bought my veil for less than $30 from Ebay. We're going to make our programs and menus. We are doing a donation for our guests instead of a favor (about $2 per guest). I really didn't cut a lot of corners, but as the old saying goes...every little bit helps!

I’m not doing favors, or a chocolate fountain, or a v-table. I found beautiful invitations for $200! I negotiated the price with every single vendor, and it worked with the exception of the limos.

~Well I have a friend who sells invitations so I got 50% off.

~I am not having Limos.

~I got a gorgeous dress at David's Bridal(wouldn't say 'skimp' but I got a great price)

~I'm having a Sunday afternoon wedding.

~No programs.

we are not spending alot on favors.
we are going to mexico for our honeymoon instead of hawaii like we wanted to.
trying to cut down our guest list!!!!!!
not having a rehersal dinner!
and researching our vendors carefully as to not over spend on them.

the only true skimp is on CP's, we are doing hurricane lamps with candles that have sea shells embedded in them.....

We got a great deal on the favors, and the invitations....so I guess that's a skimp too....

I hope to spend more on entertainment.

But i did save on:
Florist-FH aunt is a florist, so she will do my bouquets and centerpieces.
Photographer-family friend is taking our pictures. It is her gift to us.
Favors-my sister wil purchase them.
